Speaking of shields, when you get to a high enough level, a 4th option shows up called "dont do anything" and you can set that up for a grab or mixup. You can see this in one of the recent TL tournaments
Bro peach, the game flat out tells you throws beat shields. So it kills me when complain about shield counter wars. Hell half the people having shield counter wars are mashing standing A counter anyhow.
I don’t even have the game and could guess a throw would beat the shield and been wondering why everyone is just mashing and complaining in their streams
@@PSNMirru Not only throws, but you can also do aerial attacks to break the shield. Added to the fact that constantly using Shield takes from your moon gauge which leaves you with less offensive options.
@@PSNMirru With standing shield you can block aerial and upfront attacks but are vulnerable from below. If you crouch you block upfront and from below but are vulnerable to aerials. So without taking throws which are the best option you usually have another tool to deal with the shield

The only thing that bums me out is the removal of moon styles with moon styles 1 character becomes 3 take crescent Roa (warcrimes) with the crescent style it makes him a zoner while half moon is more rushdown
Honestly my only gripe is how quick it forces/locks me to auto combo in this game, def would’ve liked to have an option to turn it off or slightly change it so It won’t force me into it so quick

Surprised to see a reasonable critical review. As a big Melty fan I hate to agree. I wanted to ignore the issues but the list just goes on. I'll be going back to AACC for now. I'll probably not get a refund from Steam because I put in 6 hours already, but I'd actually want one as the game stands. Can't believe I'm saying that about Melty.
Im new to melty. Definitely agree with character being lackluster visually. But there move set Definitely defines them. I was set on Playing Roa. But itested out miyako and now im split between the 2. Miyako reminds me of karin from sfv. But yeah definitely test out each character alot of there moves make the character.
True, but they obviously abandoned the Variation System, and this was both made from scratch and the roster is based off the Tsukihime remake, which is why they’ve stuck to that core cast, the two core newcomers that were added to A Piece Of Blue Glass Moon, in Noel and Vlov, plus Saber as a Guest. Hopefully we’ll get some DLC or roster updates via a new version/sequel down the line, but character-wise, this seems like a solid first lineup to me.

That is true but that version of melty was like the 5th version or so of the game. The launch version of the last melty blood also had 14 characters with no moon variations which compared to type lumina's 13 they are pretty similar. Like literally every other fighting game more characters will be added with time.
Finally someone explained what a round announcement is to me. I like the default announcer just fine, so it’s not worth it to me. I’ll be waiting for a sale down the line.
Here’s hoping they’ll expand the roster and put some characters from the Nasuverse itself like how they did on Actress Again where they added some characters from Kara no Kyoukai like Ryougi Shiki. I know they’ll be put in there on later updates hopefully so yeah.

So no anyway, first sex scene is either in arcueid or ciel route (but you are also kinda right, depending on the choices in arcueid's route you do kinda get akiha in the first scene) but still, not akiha's route

When it comes to source material I can only speak on Fate which doesn't help much... Every Anime is fine and just has a confusing time line. I'd you do/don't care for the 18+ " Japanese weirdness " as Leffen puts it go ahead/avoid the visual novels. ( I personally avoid them and don't care ) I imagine its pretty much going to be the same Melty Blood gets an anime.

Japanese devs think that raw gameplay is enough and yet they keep dumbing that down too! It took us what 10 years for them to add rollback? Yet they still can't price their characters appropriately or make sufficient content for the game outside just grinding training mode and multiplayer.
I mean if you want the single player experience that's mean you have to play tsukihime remake visual novel, and I have to say it's a very depressing story so I don't recommend you to play unless you like movies like interdiction. This game was and meant for type moon fans who already understand the casts before they bought the game. If you bought the game without knowing the casts then I can make sure you don't even need 10 seconds to understand characters personality by the time you play them in training mode.

All the characters look the same lol. I'm not a big fan of the anime style but I think GG looks awesome because of the variety. I'm sure the source material has a lot to do with it and playstyles are very different, but still. Its just sad imo.
The intended purpose of their appearance is simple. They are superhumans and mythical beings living in common civilization, you're not supposed to know that shiki is a mystic eyes bearer, if you think he is bland and looks like a high school boy then the intended purpose of hiding their power is working.

Well... The source game is an amateur project released at the end of 2000 and was a visual novel set in a world similar to ours (if we remove all the mythology around vampires) so it's normal that the chara design is not very extravagant. Also since Tsukihime has a big fanbase the developers weren't going to revamp the characters' outfits to make them more badass. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You can tell Raiden apart from Itachi with an Akatsuki hat on. I wouldn’t be able to tell Shiki apart from some random anime school kid in uniform and don’t cap and say you could because everyone knows this games character design is bland af and honestly the fact that you can customize the sprites to your liking is in this game to make the damn fighters look more appealing

Most are yeah, you can do the same combo again and again if you have good neutral

All the characters look the same lol. I'm not a big fan of the anime style but I think GG looks awesome because of the variety. I'm sure the source material has a lot to do with it and playstyles are very different, but still. Its just sad imo.

The intended purpose of their appearance is simple.
They are superhumans and mythical beings living in common civilization, you're not supposed to know that shiki is a mystic eyes bearer, if you think he is bland and looks like a high school boy then the intended purpose of hiding their power is working.

Well... The source game is an amateur project released at the end of 2000 and was a visual novel set in a world similar to ours (if we remove all the mythology around vampires) so it's normal that the chara design is not very extravagant. Also since Tsukihime has a big fanbase the developers weren't going to revamp the characters' outfits to make them more badass. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@aegisreflector1239 the whole point of character design is to make your characters stand out. MK characters might look ugly as hell but they stand out. You can tell Raiden apart from Itachi with an Akatsuki hat on. I wouldn’t be able to tell Shiki apart from some random anime school kid in uniform and don’t cap and say you could because everyone knows this games character design is bland af and honestly the fact that you can customize the sprites to your liking is in this game to make the damn fighters look more appealing
