Freddie Mercury is the lead singer, and it was he who wrote this masterpiece. It was ahead of its time in 1975. I can still remember the first time I heard it come on the radio, I sat down in front of it and couldn’t tear myself away. I was 16 years old then and I’d never heard anything like it before. Good on you, for someone who has only ever been exposed to rap, I think it’s wonderful to see you trying to broaden your horizons. You are in for a wild ride, because rock music from the 70’s and 80’s could take you on a psychedelic trip for sure. I love Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd but Queen are my favourite, especially Freddie who was an amazing man, both personally and professionally. But then, something like the entire audience of 65,000 at a Green Day concert in Hyde Park, London, England sing all of the lyrics and all is right with the world again :) That's a cool video by the way. He didn't just decide to stop doing astrophysics and be a rock star - he actually did both. Does both. Present tense. Hello again, Sweetie! Some thoughts about Queen, and Freddy Mercury, from this old broad- for what they're worth.
Freddy was taken from us all too soon, as one of the early well-known victims of the AIDS epidemic, dying on November 24th, 1991. No, the song wasn't describing his struggles with the disease, but was written in 1975 (I was 9!), long before the disease came about. He was diagnosed in 1987, and kept it secret from the public until the night before he died, not just because of the stigma attached to anyone with a diagnosis at the time, but because he had hoped a cure would be discovered before his death. Queen was one of the greatest bands of all time, in my opinion- they certainly broke down musical barriers and successfully blended an operatic style with modern rock in a way that garnered them fans which spanned a huge spectrum of musical genres. There was never the like before, and never will be their like, again.
They did the soundtrack for the movie "Highlander" (1986) by the way.. a great and terrible film, and one of my personal favorites.

Queen is one of the biggest artist of all time, they are the 4th best selling artist of all time, they are British band that was created in 1970. The genre of rock is Progressive rock, it was really a rock opera. The song is about someone who kills a man, and he gives himself over to the authorities, in the end he accepts his fate. The songs goes through the 5 stages of grieve. Bohemian Rhapsody is still one of the most popular songs, it recently received diamond status in America. Queen has a massive catalog and they had over 60 songs that made it onto the charts during Freddie Mercury's life. They did any genre of music, some Queen songs you would likely recognise is Another One Bites The Dust, I Want It All, We Are The Champions and Rock You.

Brian May, the principle guitarist (long, curly hair),plays the guitar that he and his father made from household items in their garage when Brian was in school. The guitar you see in the videos is that guitar which he calls the Red Special. Not only is May a virtuoso guitar player, but he is an astrophysicist. ALL of the voices and music was done by the band and no backup signers. They recorded the tracks over and over laying them on top of each other until it sounded like an opera type background. One of the guys in the studio said the tape had holes in it from so many times they recorded tracks on top of one another. A major record producer was driving his car when it first came on the radio and had to pull over to listen to it. In an interview later he said he knew history had just been made. This was long before you could stuff with all of electronic equipment, it was just actual tape. Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest voices.

Fellow geezers, do you remember hearing this for the first time? It was SO "What the fuck was THAT?" and also SO exciting. Played it over and over at least 20 times the first time I heard it.

Queen is a band, and they have a shitload of wicked tunes. Personally, I think this one is far from their best. It is one of their best known though.
My go to Queen album is A Night at the Opera, pretty funkadelic 👍🏻👍🏻
