I was there 3 times: 1979 by paddling the Eagle, Bell and Porcupine Rivers to Old Crow and Fort Yukon. In 1983 paddling the Miner River and Porcupine to Old Crow. 1985 Cross Country portage from top of the Dempster Highway to the Whitestone River and paddling the Porcupine to Old Crow. Carrying 4 backpacks each 25 kg and a 17 feet canoe. Great landscape around and wonderful people in Old Crow. I remember Charly Peter Charly, Kenneth Nukon, Dick Nukon, Lennard Nukon and Steven Frost.

I remember the unedited news reports from Old Crow by a lady called Edith Josie. Here End the News was her usual sign off. Printed in the Edmonton Journal. This was back in the 1960’s

We loved living there. The kindest and most friendly people I have ever met. Chief Linklater was one amazing guy. The world could learn a lot from the Gwitchin people.

I'm Gwich'in living in the South. My husband went to Old Crow a few years ago to help build the water treatment plant. He loved it there and was treated very well. He was emotional to leave this beautiful land and people.

My niece is going to work in Old Crow; it's going to be such a wonderful adventure and experience for her. I thought so when I heard about the job, and I'm even more convinced of it now, having seen this really interesting video. Thanks!
