    Rather than holes in your city for access, you might want to consider some tables on locking wheels that you can roll out when you need access. Good locking casters are pretty cheap. You can still build those table pieces like normal with your existing plans/lumber- just cut those wooden legs shorter to accommodate height of casters. Think of it a bit like those sliding tile puzzles. 😁

    Fantastic find on the Helms Deep fig's! Extra bonus for sure. The kiddos will LOVE the new downstairs family space once the move is complete! You are always amazed as to how much actual space you have when you clear things out or move. The new studio will swallow up the tables and set's cant wait to see them integrated in and then set up and expanded. Be safe and well!

    Hey Jordan! Have you thought about building the new tables on casters and imbedding some magnets in the legs. That way you don’t have to crawl under and you could build a full giant city. When you have to access the middle you can wheel out a few tables and create a walkway and then we you put them back the magnets would orient them and lock them in place.

I got the Rivendell set but I haven't built it yet, or even opened the box... Thats a lot of wood and screws. But I am sure you will find a way to use it again. And yes getting those heavy stuff up the stairs is not something for Josee. Perhaps the raised area in the new city should go somewhere towards the middle, with several tiers of raised areas on top of it. Would make it really interesting to look at from every different angle, and would add some great height to the city center, without needing to add too many skyscrapers.

    Can you not make so if you need to be in the middle of the LEGO city that you can open a pop-up hole and you can close it when you done and than you can put the city on the closed pop-up hole. It is just an idea. But I think that is going to be Nice than the big holes in the middle of the city. I hope you read it. You are the best LEGO CZcamsr that I know, keep up the good work.

    • @blueditto

    • @Mr.Burger_
      @Mr.Burger_ Před měsícem

      That is true. But is just so random that there is a hole in middle of the city. The holes dont need to be big just enough room so you can manuver. And if it is a small hole than normally you can lift it up.

  • @reggiem1668

    I tend to over build things too but I think you’re smart to use 2x6’s. Unless doubled, 2x4’s will likely sag. Melamine is heavy and flexible and will probably contribute to the sag rather than the strength..IMHO 🙂

    i would sincerely reconsider the access holes you made so much effort to make the new studio look amazing and then when you look at you masterpiece from the mezzanine you can see the holes in the middle of the city. if it was me i would build the new tables on casters and lock em together with a simple locking mechanism or magnets, need to go to the middle unlock>slide to the side and have access without any holes in the city + no more crawling under tables double win and good quality casters are pretty cheap. but hey it's your space do whatever you feel comfortable with i will keep watching anyway love the vids

    • @joce1275
      @joce1275 Před měsícem

      I can't help thinking it would be an absolute nightmare to roll tables around with the way all the train tracks will be interconnected... you'd have to rip up a bunch of track each time you wanted to access anything... not to mention the subway he wants to run along the underside of the entire city. Seems like access holes would be much easier!!

    • @NVPhotography
      @NVPhotography Před měsícem

      @@joce1275 ow yeah such a nightmare rolling a table around my back hurts when only thinking about it, this man has everything on mills plates if you build the tables plum and level then it lines up perfectly when pulling the table and also when putting it back in place subway is a different story tho but i can imagine that that will also be on tracks which will line back up when the table is in place, but with the holes you lose a lot of build-able surface in the long run and the crawling and suffering under the tables with pre-build sets on mills plates. like i said this is his chance to start with a clean slate maybe over think the tables a little more cause it is pricey furthermore when the tables are on casters the whole city becomes modular. i just hope Jordan does not make a mistake when building his piece the resistance and thinks of a better system after the fact. i've been there with my uncles woodshop i designed tables for him that we regret building and then we build a complete modular system on wheels and his whole shop can be emptied and reconfigured in minutes. different line of work but in the end same effect if you plan out cable runs/traintracks it will line up. another example i have a complete trainset in the attic and i even have a 12v rail running through it my tables snap together with magnets and i use the magnets as a pass through one magnet on the side is a positive and the other a negative when the tables are snapped together my 12v rail is complete and perfectly safe, my entire track has power even the streetlamps, railway crossings and the house lighting. i can take the trains and houses of snap the 3 tabletops loose and set them upright in the corner the possibilities with going modular are endless static tables with access holes are not and think about the sight from above a whole city or a city with unusable holes in them. you think to small
