- Lazarus Tembo was one of Zambia's most popular singers. He was born in the Eastern province of Zambia, went blind at the age of eight, and eventually, under President Kaunda, became Zambia's Junior Minister of Culture.
A Zambian folk music award was named after him. He also supported the work of the Lusaka Nutrition Group, an organisation which was a precursor to the work of Makeni Ecumenical Centre, before 1971. A Zambian folk music award was named after him

I was not their when this special song was made. However each time I listen to it I feel connected to the song - I mean it takes me back into old time. Who else is still listening with me even in 2022?

I am dear. So creative. Evokes those old good days.
Finally I have found my childhood song...those days I would sing with dad whilst sitting on his laps....rest in peace mom😢!
It also reminds me my late brother hu lover this song alot.
So many memories. Reminds me of the poverty days in Chabanyama back in the copper-belt. My mom used to sing it to my young sister until she slept on the days when we couldn't afford supper. She would sing Lazarus' part and we would sing Kola's part. We were hungry but extremely happy. Money can't buy happiness chachine
This is so touching

The calm, rich, baritone of Lazarus Tembo still lingers on; long live cousin. I wish you had bequeathed your singing gift to a few more Easterners....
Nostalgia- Its Fathers day this week! In Chicago USA so far away from home- Yet back in the dim light of my past - singing my heart away and laughing like Kola with my daddy singing along- Priceless memories. Thanks Lazarus-RIP Dad and Lazarus! Forever yours!
