I absolutely enjoy your channel, and here's a challenge that I'd suggest....give Ducati a fair review. On all these videos you've got through menu options, hyped up a lot of common features, but the Duc review seemed inherently biased towards a dislike as it missed a number of the things reviewed here.
This isn't a criticism of the reviews, but a request to give an apple to apples review of a Duc.

Had that one since 2014 and my only doubt with getting the new one was that I wasn't looking for something very different. Anyway, as said very happy with it.. And if I was looking for better wind protection and long distance comfort, even within BMW's range I'd be looking at a GS or another boxer rather than the s1000xr.

One really needs to understand what the “dynamic pro” mode is. It does not necessarily deliver the most power, or throttle response. You need to be in “dynamic “ mode for that. “Dynamic pro” is a custom Setup created by the rider in the settings. It could have the same throttle curve as “rain” mode if it’s set up that way…

  • @mattstakeontheancients7594

Riding in pro mode without checking the settings means nothing. For all I know the Pro mode was setup the same way as Rain mode. Rain, Road and Dynamic are preset. *PLEASE HELP!*
Hey thanks for another awesome video as always... okay so I'll try and make this as short as possible...
I live in the UK and have had a 2017 S1000R from brand new. Everything has been perfect and is by far the best bike I have had in my personal opinion. I absolutely love it!!
BUT, this year has been a nightmare. It doesn't start just make the noise like its going to when I press the button then either says 'ENGINE!' or 'VDS!'
Gave it to BMW for 10 days, they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Batter has been tested by myself and BMW, no dead cells and all fine.
Anyway I just don't know what to do. I reeeeeaaaaaly don't want to get of it but if I want to actually be able to ride next year I may have to. I'm going to give it back to BMW for them to look one more time...
So, the reason I am mainly messaging you is because I am seriously thinking of a new Suzuki GSXS 1000 and I watch your video on this gen a couple of years back I think it was. I know it doesn't have the cruise control and electronic suspension etc but ar least it will hopefully be reliable lol.
BUT (haha) after seeing this I'm thinking of maybe trading in my S1KR and getting a new 2023 or 2024 S1000R.
If I love the s1000 so much do you think I 'wouldn't be happy' on the gsxs and wish I had of got a new s1kr? I will of course test ride both bikes but just trying to save some money also. Although that won't be the decision maker.
THANK YOU very much for your time taken to read this, I hope it reaches you and hope you can maybe give me your opinion.
Best wishes from across the pond...
    Chris
    Keep riding safe 🙏🏼💯🫶🏻

      I'm not motojitsu
However I do own a bmw s1000r gen2 and live in the U.K like yourself Have you got the motoscan app? And ODB reader this might help diagnose the issue at hand, Provided it throws a code.
Also do you have the manual for the motorcycle (should've come with it)
In the manual it says VDS is vertical down sensor. I had a quick read of the manual apparently if the bike is dropped this sensor is triggered and cuts the engine however turning the ignition & kill switch with the bike upright off and back on should resolve this if not you may have a defective DROP SENSOR. Also checked a forum and people have experienced VDS on screen without dropping the bike. The VDS is located under the seat it looks a bit like the coding plug for dynamic pro but on the opposite side I'm still reading whilst writing this so I'm constantly editing this comment
Also page 29 covers the engine! Warning light however doesn't really provide an answer nor solution just says take to bmw specialist.

  • @File001
    @File001 Před rokem +1

I know it's off topic, but...
I've had the desire to learn how to ride a motorcycle for last few years. Kind of on and off, but this summer I finally decided to do it. Now prior to this summer I've never even sat on a motorcycle in my life (I'm 31 now), so when I signed up in my local driving school we took it one step at the time - from A1 category 125cc moped, to A2 category Mash Five Hundred 400cc bike, to finally A category Yamaha MT-07 (EU categories). I had a good instructor, but what really helped with the technique, body position in slaloms, slow turns, and also riding on the street in general, just to build my confidence on the bike as a complete noob were videos from people like @MotoJitsu and @DanDanTheFireman. Honestly, half of my training was from absorbing their knowledge, so I did the required 15 hours of riding with no major issues, and this week passed the skill and road test fairly easily, and got my license.
I don't own a bike yet, just started looking for one, but once I do I definitely intend to get the app and work through it. And I'll look fore advanced courses (I believe there is one near where I live).
So I just wanted to simply say thank you for what you're doing.
By the way, I really enjoyed this video, the whole 23 minutes of it. I found it very relaxing: no speeding, crazy riding while wearing only a t-shirt and ripped skinny jeans - just a normal ride on an awesome bike. I can only judge by the beautiful design and sound of it, the technology built into it presented in the video, but I will probably never get the chance to ride something like this.

@@alexanderi7332 Thanks for the advice! Looked it up, and where I live they go for around 8.500 €, which would be about $9.000. So it would be over my budget. I thought I'd go for something a bit less powerful for my first bike anyway, just to take it easy. I tend to think I can handle it, but I rather choose to distrust myself. And we don't really have roads to use all that power anyway. Though I sure would do like to try something like this out, just to see how it handles, compared to my limited experience on Yamaha MT-07. And few years down the line, who knows, I might want something more powerful.
I do have my eye on Kawasaki Z650, and I got some contacts from a biker acquaintance of mine who may be able to find something. So we'll see. I'm in no particular rush, since it is winter, but I wouldn't want too much time to pass from my last ride and not be able to practice and maintain and build my skills.

I would disagree that this Gen is a HUGE improvement. The looks are a down grade, as is the sound of the stock pipe. Having owned a first gen S1000R for 3 months now, the latest gen is kind of boring and sterile compared to the more raw nature of the first Gen. I had the choice to buy this, a second gen or a first gen, and the first gen gives you the feeling of being more connected to the bike. Even the BMW dealer said buy the older bike, when I asked him for an un-biased answered, as I could pay cash for either, kind of speaks volumes when the sales person says, get the cheaper older bike if you want a better experience.

    Hi
Am from India. Own zx10r 2019.
    I like the bmw s1000R.
Want a second bike with more relaxed riding position. The S1000R is the one I like.
Not looking at too much power just need it to be comfy and reasonably powered.
Would you recommend this for long rides in the country. Say 200 300kms a day. Not a fan of the adventure bikes or the bmw XR

Just this week traded my 2017 mt10 sp for the 2022 s1000r m package . Oh man ! The suspension on the road is gorgeous, handles lovely tipping into corners, even though the mt had Ohlins it rode much harsher. The tech is outstanding on the BMW , quick shifter and blipper smooth as butter. And an aside if riding in the rain I'm not getting all the crap off the back wheel thrown up my back like on the 10. Absolutely love it. Only thing I'm missing is that cross plane low down grunt in lower gears and the sound.
