      If you keep the salt water you can use it for a follow up on crystals if you put strings in the water to form crystals around the string. You can also colour the water too for coloured crystals. This way you get lots of experiments an no waste.

    Don't swimming pools have chlorine and such that would also increase density?

      Chlorine does indeed have density but I believe you would need a very large amount of chlorine in the water to see the same effect as salt in this video.

      Which is why it is easiest to swim in the ocean, then a pool, and hardest in a fresh water lake. And in pure H2O you sink like a rock.
