    You are one of the reviewers on CZcams who really gets Abel,
    I got introduced to him much late, did saw him a bit in BBTM era (Earned it and Love me Harder) but didn't got caught in my radar. I have this habit of listening to random music on CZcams while working and M A N I A started playing, I stopped working and switched the tab and I was like hey this shit is dope. When the Starboy album dropped I listened to the entire thing in that instant and fell in love with his music, and then I really wanted more of Abel so I went back and started listening to his old stuff and I was like "HOW THE HELL DID I MISS THIS GUY ALL THESE YEARS". I realized he comes from a way stronger deeper place you had clearly explained all that in your review.
    Anyway hoping to see more amazing reviews from you :)
    XOTWOD

    Glad you described the mystery around The Weeknd back in 2011. Nobody knew who he was or what he looked like. House of Balloons blew up off word of mouth on the internet. 2011 was a special year in music. I’ll never forgot listening to the mixtape and the first track being High for this.. I was hooked.

  • @ilikethatboulder.thatisani5496

    This song is in a different stratosphere of music. Eerie, Melancholy, beautiful. I can’t even put it into words how lucky we are to have Abel. His discography will forever go unmatched. Glad to be alive during his existence. A legend forever! Xo.

    This mixtape is so painful. You can hear and sense the pain and hurt that Abel was feeling when he younger in the party life. The Weeknd is one of the most talented and influential artists I’ve ever listened to. Your breakdown of the music has helped me understand his music and other music a lot better and know what the person is talking about. I have to give credit to you Ernest. Thank you and keep up the good work.

  • @Heroinexoxo

    I still remember after Trilogy came out when people were searching for his MySpace pages and were connecting Thursday and other songs to certain women in particular videos he was in with. His lore was massive back in the day. It still is, kinda. But it was so much more mysterious way back.
    But they had pretty much figured out who he was before he even said who he was.
    Which was also pretty creepy, imo.
    That Drake link changed an entire genre of music, honestly.

    • @Heroinexoxo
      @Heroinexoxo Před 3 lety +1

      They also found out his actual first mixed tape when he went under a completely different persona.
      Which is how they found the "Happy Birthday" video he did.
      One of my favorite songs ever from The Weeknd is on one of those tapes and it's called "Birthday suit"
      Just damn dude.

  • @brianattyberry
    @brianattyberry Před 3 lety +3

    I discovered Abel after Echoes but before Trilogy. Found them all on Dat Piff. His music changed my life at the time where I found how much music itself meant to me. From EDM, Dubstep, R&B, Hip Hop, and Trance/House beats with his lyrics...this mixtape legitimately changed R&B and he created his own lane from it. Even tho others have come after him with very similar sounds and styles, but he evolves so much beyond that right when they seem to be where he was the previous couple of years where he once was. Every word you spoke in %1000 absolute truth. Everyone needs to see this.

    Always in for a video/review on The Weeknd's song or album! Was probably too out of touch or young lol, to know who The Weeknd was at the time. Only after Trilogy came out and years after did I listen to the collection of mixtapes.

    37.25 club herr. This was a magnificent analysis of the poetic masterwork of this lyrical master. This is a perfect example of why you should listen to an entire album, exactly how the artist curated each and every song. So that their entire story could be understood, with each segment being a different chapter, that creates the mood and atmosphere that can be appreciated fully, only as a complete project.
