0:00-0:21 This has been done phenomenally, the absolute recognizable 80s sound has been put down here. Even though this was not recorded in the 80's itself, I get lost in nostalgia when I hear this instrumental piece.
The electric piano sounds very much like a Yamaha DX7 which is pretty much synonymous with 80's R&B/pop, it was used on almost everything. That and the heavily chorused and compressed Fender Stratocaster single coil rhythm guitar clean tone.

This is the first time I hear “Into You” in general. And this will forever be the original version. I don’t generally listen to Grande, but the chord progressions are perfect and compliment her vocals so well.
