Cambered Chaos! My Experience of the new Electric Karts at TeamSport Crawley Go Karting

- After a bit of nagging from a certain staff member, I decided it was time to go and visit TeamSport Crawley, with their new electric karts!
It's a public Saturday session, so I'm not trying to set any records, just have a bit of fun!

After just seeing footage i wasn't sold on the electric karts at all, but i went to Warrington on Friday for my first go in them and i must say a feel i lot better about them after driving them thankfully :D great video again rob despite this looking like a VERY busy weekend session, glad you are warming to electric slightly also.

Regular channel star Dan went to Warrington last week and seemed impressed with them there - I'll get over soon enough!
Definitely coming around to them the more I drive them. Decent sessions at Eastleigh helped and this track was just EPIC! No matter how bad the session was, the track 💯 made up for it!
This is the only track I’ve been to for like 5-6 years, and I’m looking for different tracks. Got any tips?
Yea we were on a public session at Warrington last night and some of the other drivers obviously didn't listen or pay attention in the briefing room!
I avoid them as much as possible now!
@RobGoesRacing unfortunately with Charlie being 8 we have to avoid the Adult sessions as they're the problem at the moment. The Family Sessions aren't as bad.

@RobGoesRacing we are heading to Warrington on the 19th Nov and the 9th December for my Birthday!
Seemed like a hectic 2 sessions there but 4th place and a podium is pretty good 👍

Got a 47.8 a few days ago
Do all eletric karts have the boost button one at my local one we didn’t get told off a boost button
Some of the older TeamSport electrics don't (Nottingham and Stoke are two tracks I can think of that have those)
Got a 52.2 second lap on a slightly longer version of this track in the petrol karts electric karts look quite quick but the noise just seems wrong 😥
Put some earbuds in and listen to music is what I do
Going here soon, what does the power level 3 thing mean?
The electric motors can be run at different power levels (controlled by the staff). Most sessions will be run on power level 3. You can tell which you're on if you down between your legs at the LCD number display. It only shows when you're on track though. It'll be a "-" when you first get in and on 1 when in the pits.
Yeah public sessions are ran on speed 3 while certain members events will be on speed 4 (very dependent on the track)
How are you getting the info on lap times and flag status?

Rob mate where do you mount your GoPro? Is it on top of your helmet or something else like a chest mount? I can’t tell!

i will say that i have over 1k races in electric karts and a lot more throttle control is needed if you are on a slippy track because if you just flaw it the karts back end just kicks out and you slide around and loose time a great track to check out would be prestons its got a lot of grip and you are flat out for 40 percent of the track or about 200 metres its a really good track
never mind just seen you have already done it !!!
I'll need to try and revisit Preston I think, I didn't get a fair chance at it as the boost buttons weren't working properly!

Eletric karts just don’t feel the same
They don't, but the great track helped on this one!
I've never driven petrol karts before as i race at teamsport Newcastle and when i started racing there they had just gotten rid of their petrol karts, so i was wondering do you think that the E karts have better or worse handling and do the E karts have better acceleration compared to there petrol counterparts?
The e karts are heavier, and I think they run a much harder compound of tyre. So they do handle differently, but still manage to feel like a go kart. I know that possibly doesn't make all that much sense!
E karts are far better for acceleration than the tired old petrol karts I'm used to. Even the better petrol karts at TeamSport tracks are slower in comparison, but I think that's a fair expectation.
Outdoor rental karts with larger engines are closer, but still don't have the same instant torque that the electric motors can give.
I found that the electric karts at Crawley are great for heavier drivers . The torque is constant across the speed range so you don’t bog down at low revs. So I’m over 100kg and got a 51.4 on a Saturday practice. Going back this week!
I was there yesterday, good track but the last corner before the start/finish line is very slippery. Managed a 47.2

I don't understand why you leave the door open sooo wide as soon as you see a yellow, and then complain when other drivers (who don't either realise there is a yellow or just don't respect it) go straight past you. Just curious why you do this?
I go wider into a hairpin under yellows to allow myself to straighten up as quickly as possible - if we return to green during the turn, I'll be able to get back on full power sooner.
As for the two passing under yellows, I wasn't complaining, just commenting 😉 You can see me open the steering even more as I see them.
@@RobGoesRacing Thanks for the response. I understand your reasoning, I would think there's more chance of clowns going past you under yellow than you gaining an advantage out of a corner when it goes green, but all good mate.
True! I think it's become (an unnecessary) habit to be honest!
