How to Cut Boys' Hair at Home | How to Fade Hair for Beginners

- This video is all about how I cut my son's hair at home. In the video, I used different guards to fade and taper cut child's hair. I give my step-by-step instructions on what I do when I cut my son's hair. I am not a professional, but I did try to make this video beginner friendly. I used the Wahl Designer Clippers to fade and Andis T Outliner to line the hair. I also used the 1/16" 1.5 mm, 1/8" 3 mm, and 3/16" 4.5 mm guards.
By learning how to cut my son's hair at home, I saved myself from so much frustration. I was tired of the long wait times at the barbershops, the expense, and time inconvenience. Knowing how to cut his hair myself definitely helped us on school nights the day before pictures or field trips. My son rarely goes to the barber now, and when he does go, I think our cuts are pretty similar... (AKA ya girl got skillz, lol). Hope this helps you and yours. Thank you for the video! I’m sick of paying and begging these barbers to cut my sons hair. Like it’s ridiculous how the barber shops are now days
Welcome!! 🥰
Same. I spend $120 a month and I’m never happy. So I’m buying clippers!
@@Seeingisntbelieving yes! That same money can go somewhere else.
You ain’t never lied
Same I’ve been through so many Barbara’s it’s like they get lazy and start cutting sloppy one of my sons Barbers recently scheduled us showed up late and had her family all over the place then she half cut my sons hair and I paid 60 and left and I’m never going back I hope I can learn this
So proud of the views ❤ all the parents taking accountability for keeping their sons hair together no matter what. This is being a real parent! Sometimes a barber ain’t always feasible
So true!!!
Thank you for a realistic video and description of the different guards and arms. Super helpful! I am attempting to cut my 8 year olds hair now following along! Thanks!
How did it turn out?
Update??
You did that Mom! It looks good! Simple and clean
Coming here after my son’s father hasn’t taken my son to a haircut in months and I struggled to find a barbershop today before my son’s first dance. I’m hoping to learn so that I can just do it myself from here on out. Thank you!
You got this!
This is my goal because I will be asking my husband forever to call the barber to see if the barber is available. Good to know I’m not the only one experiencing this. It’s frustrating because he gets upset if i look for a barber myself. I’m looking forward to learning this technique and perfecting it. I hope you enjoy cutting your sons hair as well !
@@MakedaRucker-rf8wsSounds exactly like my husband and honestly it’s annoying asf. Just take him to the shop regularly if you don’t want me doing it.
Thank you for this video. Just had a 3rd son 2 weeks ago. Really serious about learning how to cut my boys hair!! Gonna start with my 1yr old then work my way up to my 7yr old. By the time my newborn turns one, I will have enough practice to cut all three of my boys hair! Will be purchasing my equipment soon!
Video 5 years old hope y’all doing well thank you for the tutorial gonna try on my son hair right now 😅 wish me luck!
@@Mr.K316 we are!! You never know how the work done today will bless someone in the future. Thanks so much.
You’re my hero! My son’s dad cuts hair but he HATES when he does it so I said I’d learn bc he’s more trusting of me and this helped a bunch!
Glad to have helped! Thanks for watching!
I'm learning now bc my son said he doesn't like it when his dad cuts it. Lml he said his dad hands stinks😂. I'm like ok baby ill learn and cut your hair 😂
As a boy mom of 3 boys this has saved me hundreds of dollars. I cut my boys hair now. They like mine better than my husband 😂😂😂
I have watched several barber try to explain faded and yours is the best and easiest I have ever seen thank you for explaining it so simply
Wow!!! Glad I helped. Thanks for watching!!
I watched other videos and couldn't relate until I watch this one as you are a mother and doing at home. I have been doing since he's 3 now that he's 8 I need to learn how to do the line properly around the edges. Not sure what it's called
Sweet Mother! God bless you more!
Great job! Very good tutorial and thanks for not skipping any steps
Dad here considering making the move to cut my sons hair. One of the reasons I shied away from cutting my sons hair is because my dad used to butcher mine as a kid.
I just need to commit the time to getting good so my son gets a similar quality at the house.
You can do it and your son will love the time you spend with him.
Thank you so much. You just saved me money.
Thank you so much for the tutorial because I want to be able to take care of cuts at home. I've only lined my son up in between cuts. Never faded before. Your son's hair looks really nice. I'm going to give it a try because you explained it well and didn't make it too technical.
When you said school functions and pictures etc I definitely felt that! Just ordered some clippers! Thanks for the video ma! 💙
Yes! So helpful when he needs a quick hair and we have limited time.
You did a great job girl. Yasssss, lil man is clean👌🏽👌🏽
Saavy mom teaching others. The cut came out nice. ❤❤❤
Mom u did a FABULOUS job!! Big Ups to u and Son....Be Blessed.
Thank you!!!
You did gorgeous on cutting his hair. It looks so cool.
He’s a cutie with his new cut. Thank you for the info.
You did a phenomenal job momma! Yes!
I loved this video. I went and bought another pair of clippers today to try this. I ended up getting the andis that came with the liners but I used the different sized guards like you described. Also the trimmers that I was using before didn’t have an arm so there wasn’t much blending which didn’t really matter because he had long twist.
Your video was extremely helpful! My 7 year old likes to keep the top of his long, but since quarantine we had grown the sides and the back out so I had a lot of hair to cut and was super intimidated 😩 But you made it so easy! It turned out really really nicely and I wanted to slide through and give you props on a mad helpful tutorial! Thank you ☺️
I'm glad it helped! I have still been using these same techniques and getting better each time.
Thank you! This looks great!
Thank you ❤This is so helpful! A realistic example 💓💓💓💓
Thanks for the vid!!! Been cutting my own since middle school. Done my little brother's who has thick hair like an islander. But recently we took in my lady's step brother and he needs a trim thought I'd do some homework

Thanks for this👍🏽
Welcome
You are awesome 👏🏽
Nice job.
I'm so.scared to do it.
My son 4. And I'm trying to save some pennies this month, which is why I'm viewing this video.
I have a hard time trying to learn the guards. So is it safe to say, the smaller the number is on the guards, the closer the cut?
Also, the arm lever. Idky I have a hard time learning that too 😫
We all learning lol but WE GOT THIS
@@morganrosalyn
Nah. "Yall" got this. Lol. I screwed his cut up that time. I will never do that to my son again. ☺☺
I felt so bad for him. Luckily he was only 4 and couldn't be bullied about it.
Pleasant surprise
You did good
nice
❤
Where do u bought the machin pls
Everything came from Sally's and Amazon.
Can I do this with no lever?
I never tried without a lever. However, I do feel that the lever helps with blending.

I want to learn to taper if I was to have a boy, I always told myself that

I hope that you decided to go into being a professional barber. You should go to Barber school.
Always cut the way yall child hair grows and most people cut down not up but ..
Great tip. I have tried both ways and see benefits on both sides.
Great video I’ve been saying for the last year or so I’ll start learning to cut nut sons hair, this was a great tutorial! My guy looking sharp btw 🤎
