- Update: I have officially left GP Nursing! Life update on nursing and life.
I have officially left primary care and started a new role which I'm loving right now. Gives me a great work life balance.

* I have previously worked as a healthcare assistant in sexual health and family planning, where I worked for the past 5 years and 9 months before qualifying - I absolutely loved it!
* Before sexual health I worked in care home for the elderly, orthopaedic theatres and I have done some bank shifts on the wards at the QE Hospital Birmingham too. Overall around 11 years healthcare experienc before qualifying as a nurse

Congrats on the new job Claire! I hope it gives you you time to recharge. It is so hard at the moment, going out to placements that are hugely understaffed, I can see the nurses and the whole team struggling and wonder how I will do.... I want to see your new furball! I have a cat as well and he is my all (much to my partners dismay lol)

I'm sure you'll do well wherever you work Claire. I finished placement in day surgery and for my next placement, I have a cardiac ward, which is a change and with that, I'll go on to my final year. It's been fun

I still love GP don’t worry haha. I still advise anyone to go follow their dreams. I have learnt so much and definitely upskilled in GP! I just needed this for myself right now that’s all 🥰💙 xx

I think there should be discussions about working outside of the NHS too. As much as I love our NHS it’s important to explore the world of nursing 🥰💙

Hey Clair, I'm a third year student nurse at Manchester. I'm very passionate about patient's health but I have become so drained since starting my degree as the pandemic hit. As a result of this on my physical and mental health, I am starting to think that nursing is not for me. Is this because I'm a student in these difficult times? Does it get better once you qualify? Please help
Hey! Aw I’m sorry you’re struggling right now. Please get all the help and support from uni and placement team that you can.
It does get better. Sadly there’s a huge strain on healthcare services all over the UK right now :( this has been ongoing for years but the impact of the pandemic has just added to that.
The beauty of nursing is, there’s so much variety and places you can work. So don’t give up 💙 xx
