The first story is so touching, of how Theodora resolutely makes the sacrifices necessary for getting gifts for the children, doing everything for their sake, I’m really touched
Wow I remember the little match girl book from when I was about 8yrs old. Made me cry. Thank you for taking me back to simpler times and when Christmas was magical.

I tell you what, it would be handy if each story, it's title and length were noted, and when the following one begins with a time stamp, so I can dip in and out at my pleasure, that would be a blessing, when I'm stressed out and not in the mood for detective stories or suspense thriller, I know I can dig this recording out, relax and let go of my high, high anxiety and sit back and enjoy. Ahhhhhh!

Her Birthday Dream story is a creepy cult story
I don’t hate the readers. I got put off by the disgusting way the first story is written. Women are not servants any more than men aren’t.
It’s a product of its time!!! You can’t read something written in 1909 to have the same ideas and ethics as in 2023.
Read the story or not, it’s up to you but literature is not all about your day and your beliefs.
Perhaps you can be glad you didn’t live then-I don’t think you would have had a happy Christmas if you can’t see the goodness in the story of sacrifice. Sad to me really.

@@cindythompson1805 well there are better stories from the time that don’t emphasise and celebrate some of the worst parts of those times.
Also I’m allowed to comment on said literature and point out our past societies issues.
I wouldn’t cancel the literature or burn a book but I will say it’s very backwards and women are not servants. I am allowed to do so.
