why does THIS watch do that?
To hold 2 different times
And to show off the Altiplano's movement, which until Bvlgari and RM race for the thinnest mechanical watch was one of the thinnest mechanical watch.
So you can tell time in two time zones.

Hear, hear! I thought that (those) Watch(es) was (were) spectacular! That's a very clever solution for non-hour time zone differences. I cannot understand why people dislike it so much. I think it's great!

All GMTs are dumb (but still great) because they don’t really work for non-hour differences. This is a proper flex because not only it solves that problem, it shows off the thinness of the movement too
Non-watch people stumbled upon this short and started seething as soon as they saw a watch costing more than their timex weekender.

@@methshin1 cannot disagree more. Most people into horology would appreciate the engineering that's gone into this. As someone completely obsessed with watches, I really struggle to see why anyone who knows anything about watches would dislike this.

Even if it's set to another time zone it is unnecessarily bulky. A second hour hand is neater, easier, cheaper and less ridiculous.

The commenter is correct. But I've been saying this for years- a casio does the job. If you think mechanical watches are for utility you are lying to yourself
Watches in general are just style now. Your phone or smartwatch does it all and more. Even casio's only real function is to make it slightly quicker to see
@@melody3741 Mechanical watches are indeed a luxury rather than a practical choice, and complications increase their cost, and often their desirability. In this case the thickness makes it less desirable, and doubling the entire movement, rather than adding an extra hand, is ridiculous and costly.
@@bulldog8934 Even for the odd timezone of less than hour difference, it would be neater and less expensive to have a second pair of hands than a whole separate movement.
Why doesn't a watch have two watches?
It is a statement: look I'm so thin!
If the black dial watch is a thin, high-accuracy quartz movement that can be used as a reference timer for the automatic movement, then in theory I’m in (in practice Piaget is way out of my budget).
No quartz here, both white and black dials use Piaget altiplano automatic movement which is super thin.

I have loved Piaget, Cartier, and a handful of other “jeweler first” watchmakers for decades now. You can get hidden gems (pardon the pun!) like this from those types of makers. If the dial said “Patek Philippe” then it would be a $200K watch.

Mostly pointless! However, I suspect that the times would be set at different time zones? and unlike GMT watch which can only show time zones that are an hour apart, this one could show true different time zones that are 1/2 or 1/4 hr different etc.
Still mostly pointless though and twice as expensive to service.
If you’re worried about practicality or cost go buy a cheap quartz movement! They are way more precise and a micro fraction of the cost

This would make sense only if both would be 6-7 mm quartz. One analog, and the other digital.
Casio could definitely make this work... but they are too busy making red-yellow kitsch monstrosities for kids and braindead grown ups.
One tells the current time and the second one tell the future time..
Skillfully made but a terrible idea of a watch. Might as well get a gshock mrg ir quartz dont offend u. It's probably that thick but at least adjust time losses and zones all on its own and is solar so never need to wind anything. Or else get a gmt
Just buy a GMT and you're done. Not only that most GMTs can do 3 time zones.
Most GMT's can only deal with hourly differences, you can have any difference there is with this watch.
