I use the Lee drum with Hodgdon HP-38 and CFE pistol(both small ball powders) running 3-6 grains and it stays consistent from start and check after every 20-30 throws to +/- 0.02 grains, Nice to see further validation! And no leaking. On their website they have an upgrade package that includes the old hopper and improved riser, FYI.
Yeah, have to echo your comment. Been mucking around with my powder measures and it takes a fair amount of time. Tedious, too. I've got the Lee Auto Drum too, but never bothered to try and seriously check it with ball powders, because it leaks a bit and I don't like powder laying about, however little it may be.
I've done a check of the Lee Auto drum for smaller powder drops: I've measured a maximum deviation of +-0.05gr in a 3.85 gr powder drop (resulting in 3.8-3.9gr), Sample Size 30. The resulting ammo shows a sd of 5m/s in speed (16.4fps).
Oh yeah, I’m aware of that. But then you have absolutely no way to monitor your powder level until you start under charging cases. It just seems they tried to solve a problem that didn’t exist. I’ll give Lee props for always thinking up new stuff though! Not all my ideas are keepers either haha

Partner that hopper is small but you can screw that red lid straight to your bottle. That’s the whole idea.
