    that song sounded so thomas bergersen xD well done! luckily i never had this experience of a writers block, but what i generally do, especially after a huge track, is taking a few days break from music before doing the next, i just need that to recharge my inspiration a bit.

    Doesn't really have anything to do with the content of the video itself, but: I just wanted to say 'thank you' really quick for all your time and effort (and skills) you're putting in your videos. I subbed like a year ago thanks to the Apocalpysis Noctis Orchestration but didn't get around to check out the tutorials due to lack of time and motivation, but I'm currently working myself through them and I really love your work. It's really helping a lot and I appreciate it very much. (Also, your Green Hill Zone Remake just killed me completely. An additional thank you for creating such pieces of work, there's nothing that can make me as emotional as music and you're doing a great job with getting me to that point :D)

    This is actually how I keep myself going! I just make sure that every day I open my computer at least once to work on something, even if it doesn't end up going for long. If I have no major songs I want to work on, I try to make something new, and if I don't like it, I don't force myself into frustration by trying to finish it. But I still attempt, so I'm still keeping my creative muscles active. That, and the freedom of just trying something new can inspire some incredible ideas I never would've come up with otherwise

    The 'pressure from friends' thing is so accurate. The more they expect from me, somehow, the less ideas I have. Because of that I really just decided to stop music, in which, it has been about a year now. I'm not a music producer or anything, it's just as a hobby, but the fact that the 'fire' that used to be in me to just make some music is just, gone.... make's me feel kinda miserable. Your method of overcoming this writer's block seems interesting and somehow inspiring. I'll be giving this a shot.

    Wise words. Sometimes we forget about the joy of "just making music" and not adding all the adicional preassures.
    I usually feel like I´m "weak" for not being able to make a song with a billion instruments and lots of powerful parts,
    It´s good to see that you are Human too :p

    • @AlexMoukala
      @AlexMoukala  Před 6 lety +3

      And you need to take into account that it's not the number of tracks that makes the song great.
      It's better to have a simple song that makes sense rather than a complex song that sounds like chaos. Beginners usually go for the latter to impress, and they end up with the worst results they can muster.
      Focus on the simple, but effective stuff. Leave complex ideas for later.

      So true! It blows my mind to hear how much they did with most NES soundtracks back in the days, with only 3 sounds at the same time and white noise for drums... Simple can be very powerful as well!
      always enjoy your vids :)

    Hey Ales, I firstly want to thank you for all your amazing videos. They are very helpful and informative. I´m just wondering if you have a tutorial on how to use Kontakt 5 as a beginner. From your videos, I feel like you have a very good knowledge of Kontakt 5 and how to use in properly in FL Studio (Daw I am also using). Making a series of how to use Kontakt 5 as a beginner will help so many of us (beginner producer). I hope you see this message. Love your videos :)

    I did this for five years without ever finishing anything.. I now have over 500 projects of which most suck, but some have potential. Theoretically I could go back to alot of these and remake them now that I finally invested in some proper equipment and libraries

    I compose everyday.Yeah I start something then trash it after a couple hrs.Then a couple of days I come up with something. Like, I'm impressed my Piano chops. In a track.Or Some days I watch and listen to Video's on You Tube.I learned something the other day from an Evanant Video.On different Chord progressions.

      That's 100% normal if you're just beginning, I used to have that a lot too.
      But just push through it and write the thing anyhow, if it becomes a cover, so be it.
      Eventually you'll start to write 100% original things.

    QUESTION: How do you get past the little music theory barries? Like counting tempo and Time signatures? When I ignore that stuff and I try to quantize my stuff, it gets all messed up! lol. How do you do it?

    • @AlexMoukala
      @AlexMoukala  Před 6 lety +1

      I wouldn't say tempo and time signature require you to study music theory to understand them. Rhythm is very primal.
      If you're totally lost however, study the basics on musictheory.net/ and then try to stick to 4/4 until you mastered that time signature.
      Then write a song in 4/4 using triplets.
      Then 3/4. Then 5/4 and then try to do crazy stuff.

    If you have a writers block, just do something like this to get you started again: "Plays song i could not even write without a writers block"
