- In August 2004 I departed Cape Gaspe, Quebec, bound for the Pacific Ocean. I followed the International Appalachian Trail south to Katahdin, where I joined the Appalachian Trail, then the Long Trail, North Country Trail, Continental Divide Trail, and finally the Pacific Northwest Trail. The 11-month hike ended up being about 7,775 miles long.
The GOAT of backpacking
Incredible! You have gone on adventures greater than most can imagine let alone actually attempt.
And he brought into the wild! Legend
Great content, it'd be great to see more of these
This was amazing! On so many levels.
What a legendary effort. Thank you for sharing your experience. Very inspirational.
What an amazing journey Andrew. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for sharing Andy
Your description of the joy of hikers reaching Katadin is interesting. I’ve never done a long distance through hike (I have done long distance wilderness travel in Western Australia-canoes) and shorter 1-2 week back country trips. I always find a sense of joy and pride getting to the end but also a profound sense of sadness and loss.
You are truly an amazingly inspirational human being. We need more like you and Elon.
Dope! I bought your maps for the Hayduke. Thanks for the help!
That 3-month section on the N County trail really makes me want to get out for a weekend in the snowy backcountry. Maybe not in -20 F though :)
I envy you! You were wise to do this through hike when you did. New subscriber!
This is comparable to backpacking as Hoosiers is to basketball.
I still have the poster from this talk stashed away somewhere.
Somehow the Audio is always cutting out?
