    Love these super budget videos. We all need good beater knives. 🗡

    That third onse is a shocker! For $8 and in a clutch that wouldn't suck at all. I need go to my local HF and see if they have one. Thanks for this video, never would have given any of these a second look!

    I would be interested in a 3.6 Gordon review for sure!

  • @03_austindrake88

    Be careful with that last one. I bought one of those years ago just to check it out. The whole handle unscrews from the blade. There is no rat tang or any tang whatsoever really. Of course unless they changed them. Definitely looks exactly the same. This was a fun different video. Great video once again Stassa.

    Quick question could you swap out the blade and pocket clip on the Gordon 3.6 blade?

  • @dcamnc1

    I bought the "3.6" gordon on bearings. Mine had horrible action, so I tore it apart, cleaned, relubed, tuned, loctited, and swapped the clip to tip up. The bearings on mine were steel, not ceramic. My detent ball is black, but I see some silver, so I think it got painted over when they painted the liners. It's def not 3.6", closer to 3". My detent is very light; so light I can fail a flip easily. It has significant lockstick as well. It's definitely a cheap knife, ok for a pure beater or tool/tackle box knife.

  • @timbo4374
    @timbo4374 Před 2 lety +4

    That 3rd one didn't look half bad. Would be a good beater you don't have to worry about damaging if you had some nasty chore to take care of. Looks about Kershaw or CRKT level, but I can't tell from just looking. Interesting. 7.50..hard to beat that.

    • @firstlast2514
      @firstlast2514 Před 2 lety

      It isn't nearly Kershaw or crkt level. I worked at harbor freight for three years.. no knife they sell is comparable to any thing except trash 😂

    • @timbo4374
      @timbo4374 Před 2 lety +1

      @@firstlast2514 I've had some total trash knives from Kershaw over the years too. Their USA made line is decent, and their more mid priced line is sort of kind of ok, but their bargain basement $15-$20 Walmart line is absolute trash. To me, that's what this is. A dirty job knife you can throw away after you're done lol.

    • @timbo4374
      @timbo4374 Před 2 lety

      @@firstlast2514 I'm in no way shape or means saying I'd buy one. My collection is far more refined than this level trash, but there are a lot of people who buy this crap , because they refuse to spend good money for a good knife.

    • @firstlast2514
      @firstlast2514 Před 2 lety +1

      @@timbo4374 that's because they think all knives are created equal and look past the poor craftsmanship and quality. If they spent another 20 bucks and looked in the right places they would get far better for their money

    I bought a couple of 30# boxes of knife and multitool like objects at auction. These ones from Harbor Freight look as good or better than most of them. I sharpened many, and most got serviceably sharp but the edge holding capacity was pretty meager.

    I love a good cheap knife.. despite my pile of spydercos, ZT, crk, ect, my most carried knife is probably an old sanrenmu 710. It’s a good size, sharpens quickly, action is fine, blade is centered perfectly, I don’t worry about handing it to anyone and I won’t be too upset if I lose it.. maybe a little after how long I’ve had it lol.

      Those cheap Rambo knives are blade heavy. To double the value of your knife and improve the balance, throw out the survival kit and stuff a roll of quarters in there. It really makes the balance point better.

    I sharpened one of those big survivor knives a few years back for a guy at work on my kme and man that thing came out stupid sharp. It was a pain to sharpen on the kme because the length but got it done. He told me his girlfriend cut herself with the knife a few days later. She didn’t know it was sharp and he said I told you the knife guy at work sharpened it 🤣

    Please sharpen and test them all, it’s sad to see that all 3 are sharper than my first knife which was a crkt m16 variant and couldn’t cut paper at all. A knife whith 8cr13mov, bearings and possibly g10 handles for $10 msrp and $7.50 on sale is a steal. Also I think the last gordon knife with serrations is being discontinued because it’s on clearance.

    Yeah, I think you HAVE to test at least the most promising one. If it passes with flying colors, well, we have a cheap winner. If it fails miserably, then we get to see what absolute failure looks like, and a real indication what $8 actually gets you. ;) Either way, a good learning experience....

They have stepped their game up with power tools, but their knives are literally garbage.. my brother came in and had been drinking,he came through my line and bought two knives. I actually felt embarrassed 😳 and not because he had a buzz strapped on, but because I couldn't believe he actually was buying them. I tried to talk him out if it with people in my line behind him 😂

    Did ur store not have the "Buck" look-a-like? would love to know how the metal in the $7.50 -$8 knife holds up compared to 1 another{see if the heat treat is consistent}. Not sure why anyone would judge a knife by the sharpness out of the box. These so many variables especially in the cheap knives because of spending $ on inspections. rather have the $ spent on better metal and heat treatment because if the reason we spent the $ on it to use 99out of 100 times we know its not a super steel and need sharping and F-in way...Thanks for the vid.
