  • Churchill College has distinctive modernist architecture compared with the traditional Gothic and Neo-Classical styles of older Cambridge colleges. But the design has a secret hidden in plain sight. Watch Emeritus Fellow at Churchill, Professor Mark Goldie explain all - had you spotted this?
Churchill College’s modernist #architecture was the first of its kind at Cambridge University and marked a new direction in higher education buildings across the UK during the 1960s. The College’s design was selected through a competition, won by architectural firm Richard Sheppard, Robson and Partners. Their design stood out for its modern approach and #Brutalist details.
The College’s layout and building designs integrate both the arts & crafts traditions and the needs of the contemporary academic community. This blend of tradition and modernity makes Churchill College a unique and inspiring place for study and research.
