Too darn CUTE. I love when hounds use their floppy ears as eye masks when they sleep. :) I hope you get your bacon baby. :)

There are 3 things only basset lovers/owners find soothing about a basset.
    1. Their stink - I know it sounds weird but when I come home from a long hard and stressful day at work. The first thing I do is find my sleeping hound, put my arms around her….. and burry my head in to her tummy and take a huge smell….. something about their “corn chip” stink is very soothing to me.
    2. Their flop noise - nothing comforts me more than sitting in my living room, and hearing that “ floppy floppy flap flap” noise of basset hound hears and jowls flopping from a good head shake. It reminds me I’m not alone and that I have a bag of skin to love on.
    3. Their beautiful singing voice - some people hate how noisy they are. But I absolutely LOVE that noisy and wonderful basset hound bay or howl. It’s beautiful music to my ears.

Wait til you get 13 or 14 or more bassets. One will be the choir director and get them all singing praises to God at the same time. Funniest is, they will all stop at the same time, too.

Our Copper boy is 3 months old now and he has very quickly learned that my seven year old son is a walking snack buffet. My son will walk around eating granola bars and Copper trails behind him licking up the crumbs and I'm behind him with a mop lol

You can bang a drum near my nearly-deaf elderly Basset's head without waking him, but let a bit of food hit his pan and he's up and running to the kitchen.

I found bassets didnt always see too good, and everyone knows they have a strong nose... but I honestly found the hearing to
Be the most impressive asset to me. Atleast the two sister bassets my mother and I had!!! they could tune in on certain words or sounds from very far away or in a deep sleep.. both those hounds knew my vehicles engine sound from about 1/2 a mile away... both would pop out of a dead sleep and get all rowdy... be waiting sitting tail slightly swushing....or get bouncing in place.... I have multiple vehicles too!! From a 650hp radical loud mustang cobra to a bone stock silverado truck... no difference... moms would just bolt out of a dead sleep about a minute out... !!??
Then key/trigger words... those dogs just would light up like the 4th of july over even if you didnt mean the context... for my mothers it was "boat" or "gator" if that dog was out cold sleeping on the ac duct.... if you said "Aligator" or even "float" it was all over!!! That lil cannon ball was wide open hooting and howling... my parents have a boat... and a john deere gator...
That dog would not stop unless it had 1 or the other!!! Lol.... some trickery insued... if you loaded her in the back of the gator... rode to the end of tge driveway then just reveresed... unloaded... the process was complete! And she would go in lay back down... lol...

Our current Basset, Goofy Boofy, is a New Orleans hurricane rescue (street dog). When he first came to us he had frequent, terrible nightmares. It’s taken a few years, but they are finally rare.he’s also terrified of storms. We discovered CBD works better for him than Rx meds and he goes into a room with all the drapes drawn and tv or music one with hubby. He’d rather be with me but he literally tries to crawl under me which my body can’t take. I really dread storm because his fear is so heartbreaking.
