Richard, another thoughtful insight into another bike brand, looks like a perfect bike for probably the new E bike starters or for somebody that just wants to ride around the neighborhood. The equipment on that bike for the price is awesome.

Yeah, I love the rear basket I bought it. It just clamped into that little square easy on off and you can even put the child seat on and off really quick and it comes in three different colors. Yeah the display is a lot of programming. You can set that to zero when you get back on For 995 this is an outstanding little bike and I how did you like the ease of changing the classes very easy agree $100 more definitely get the bigger battery the quality of the paint on these bikes are unreal my wife really enjoys hers.

Thanks for sharing Jerome. Yeah they are nice. For only $100 more I really wish they had sent the bigger battery. But I am already considering buying a battery to use with several of my bikes to increase the range.

@@EbikeReviews yeah when I received mine I ordered the 13.4, but when I unboxed it, there was no battery from the factory they left it out. I called them. I made a video when I was unboxing it. Good thing I did because they didn’t believe me until I showed him the video. Then they sent me a 14.4 amp battery.

The bike ships with a 10.4 or 13.4Ah battery. Well worth $100 for the 13.4 battery.
They’re obviously targeting this model at the Lectric XP, which retails for roughly the same price for a 10.4Ah battery, but a $100 less for the larger battery.
The extra battery is 14Ah. It uses 18650 LG cells vs the Yiwei cells the included batteries use, thus the slight difference in capacity. It’s the old 700 series battery (the new one uses 21700 LG cells and isn’t compatible). They charge $375 for it, whereas Lectric charges $499 for their 14Ah pack.
I’ve had displays that default to PAS 0, 1 or the last used when you power on. It’s something you get used to, but it’s safer for people new to e-bikes if it defaults to 0. I always set my PAS to 0 before I dismount my e-bikes anyway. It’s like downshifting before coming to a stop or putting your car into neutral or park before you turn it off. You just get used to it.
One thing to note is all of Ride1Up’s cadence sensor bikes use a current-based PAS vs a speed-based PAS, like Lectric now does, though they call theirs PWR. I prefer it as it gives you more control over how much the motor puts out, whereas speed-based ones use an arbitrary power curve, with peak power starting from a stop, which has thrown me off a couple times (good thing I know how to tuck and roll). It’s not the same as a torque sensor PAS but it’s better than a speed-based PAS.

Thanks for sharing. I do agree with you about the sensors.

I purchased this bike last year for $899 in Indigo Matte with the 10.4ah battery. I have a collection of ebikes (an old Haibike, two Juiced, and an Urban Drift Figoo s1) but wanted a smaller folding "campground" bike to just throw in the car on a moment's notice. The smaller frame size and smaller tires were a plus for me. It's been a great bike...my only complaint is the lack of a derailleur guard, which I believe to be a significant oversight for a folding bike. I'm hoping that Ride1Up will make one available to retrofit on these bikes.

I’ve read they now ship with a derailleur guard and bell. You should contact their customer service and ask if they’d send or sell you one. When I asked about buying a pair of torque arms for my LMT’d (they added then after my generation), they sent a complimentary set to me. They’re good people.

Thanks...I contacted Ride1Up earlier today and was informed that they do have these guards on current bikes... but they are NOT available for retrofitting older bikes. The service rep advised that I call them once a month to see if they have yet to identify a source for an aftermarket guard that will fit. This "policy" seems to differ from that of other companies that are willing to contact you if a requested item becomes available (e.g., Juiced Bikes). I consider this to be another unfortunate example of an ebike seller having no ability to obtain spare parts. Just a bit of advice for dealing with their customer service...I called twice today, and the first customer service rep I spoke with seemed completely indifferent to my concerns and was not helpful. I called again later and spoke to someone else who was much more pleasant was actually aware of the issue that I was talking about. The quality of your customer experience will definitely be determined by which customer service rep you are connected with.

What are your thoughts about this bike for a 74 year old woman who never goes above 11 mph, also riding in very hilly terrain? I used to have an Electra Townie Go but sold it. I found it hard to control. Didn’t like the 26 inch tires, had to get off to put my feet on the ground, always felt unsafe.
