Me watching this flip-flop craft as someone who has actually used flip-flops to make platform boots: 0_0
But in actuality, the flip-flop platforms are a normal punk/alt diy. The difference is that punks don’t just leave them as flip-flops, we nail/glue them to a pair of boots or shoes we own so it’s safer for our ankles and use duct tape to make sure they don’t get waterlogged and don’t come apart.

I actually did this with 4 pairs of flipflops beneath sneakers that I wore til there were holes worn into the bottom, then I used mustasche duct tape to cover them. They were the most comfortable shoes I ever wore, and I still love those shoes. Unfortunately I lost them in the move to college, but I've thought about doing it to other shoes 😂
