In this episode, we first dive deep into the James Harden trade and what it means for The Philadelphia 76ers and The Los Angeles Clippers. Then Jalen joins us and we have an incredible convo. Topics include: The Oklahoma City Thunder's sudden high expectations, what Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is really like as a teammate and how SGA grows each year, Chet Holmgren's competitive edge, battling against Victor Wembanyama, an incredible story about talking trash to Mark Daigneault before he became head coach, the Team USA experience, how Jalen is growing this offseason, being under recruited in high school, what he felt when he was drafted by The Thunder, how he feels about Oklahoma City as a place and much more.

Mark is Honestly the best Coach we’ve had. Back when we had Kd Russ it was more ISO Ball. The plays they run now are more team oriented.
Lol it’s not even close. Best coach by farrrr
wish he coached russ instead of billy donavan. I feel like those years could be so much different with a better coach
By far and away the best coach.
@@utkugurlu11I wish Russ would’ve had a good coach early in his career. Feel like that would’ve fixed a lot of the bad habits we see today as far as turnovers and shot selection.
Now we bulls fans are stuck with billy. I have no idea what our front office is thinking to be so in love with that guy
Finally! A Thunder player gets on a big podcast!
Thank you dub, and thank you to jj and all involved with making this happen. It means a lot to our fan base.
Let’s go thunder!
I'm really impressed. What a mature, sympathetic and well spoken guy. Awesome interview!
What a stand up guy. Really hope they can keep this team together moving forward!
This is my fiirst time watching a full ep, I was just here for Jalen Williams, but I'm impressed by JJ. He's a great interviewer! Goes without saying, but Dub is a great interviewee too.
Check out the rest of the catalogue. He's got some great podcasts and a great interviewer
Jj pod is great, very informative and u get that inside look what it’s like.
When JJ looks deadass at the camera and says they've included a clip and I'm stood here like Pablo 😐
Even as a fan of another team, I’m rooting for this dude. Great interview and I really respect his team-first and longevity approach.
One of the very few podcasts that I thoroughly enjoy listening to every minute of regardless of length. JJ continues to bea great host and interviewer. And Jalen one of my favorite guests so far! Very well spoken.
Really like J Dubb, I also believe this team can host a playoff series in the west if healthy
Duh
By host you mean home court advantage?
@@n9737 yeah at minimum they are a 4 seed to me
When the Thunder got JDub I was so happy. Perfect fit in every way and his game can grow so nicely with that squad
OKC will age into championship level as the older generation ages out... it's gonna be beautiful
Unless they pull another Harden trade
@@doremeow2348 True, that's why Presti is stocking draft picks so hard. He wants to keep this core together for a LONG time, he's investing in a team that stays together which is the rarest thing in the NBA
Someone gotta get Shai onna Pod, we need to hear from the 🐐
This gave me similar vibes to the Cam Johnson interview. Jalen & Cam are both mature beyond their years, have easily translatable/underrated skill sets, and are very articulate. They're driven towards success, and it's blatantly obvious that they both love playing basketball. It seems like they would be great dudes to share a locker room with. Great stuff as per usual JJ, you're a terrific interviewer!
more reserved for sure (seems like a cool guy to smoke a joint with and talk basketball😂) but completely agree had the same feeling listening to this after the pod with Cam. would love to be teammates with them on any court
also as a lefty shooter who had problems shooting turning over my left shoulder as a kid but loved studying film and the details of angles, body position, and footing.. listening to Cam Johnson get so eager to talk about JJ coming off pin downs to his right side made me light up cuz the clippers always ran that pin down for JJ to start the game and I always tried to mimic it when the game ended (but to the left side)
sorry for the rant 😂 feel like a nerd sometimes talking about it with friends cuz they think I'm crazy or full of it so I can't help myself around hardcore fans. keep it up JJ!
SOMEONE NAME A BETTER SPORTS INTERVIEWER THAN JJ REDICK. SIKE YOU CANT!!!!!!
Heavy on the glaze I see lol you can name a few actually but he’s right at the top with those other guys
Draymond easy
Problem is JJ is too smart for most viewers. You're here probably because you're not a basketball casual
@@justinallen3080he never goes as deep into basketball topics as JJ
kenny beecham
Starts at 16:21
Thanks man
Shai gonna get that MVP in one of the next three seasons, mark my words.
Word
Absolutely. He has that mentality.
Next 3??? Naw
@xXSprMgaAwsmFxyHtXx you're right. Has to be within the next two.
Maybe, shai is a beast but this okc team is loaded with talent and some of these guys might need the ball a little more
Okc smaller Market, biggest hearts! This is absolutely the best interview I've viewed in a while. This Okc roster will be talked about for a long time.
As a Thunder fan I really enjoyed watching this. Thanks JJ for bringing true content.
It’s just nice hearing a players perspective of things
What a cool dude. Always rooting for the Thunder, but seeing awesome dudes like this makes it so much fun.
Great interview with Dub! Appreciate the content Old Man!
i’m so glad I saved this podcast dubs progression is amazing easily my favorite player on the team with hayward i’m intrigued on how they mesh he’ll teach our guys a lot #thunderup⚡️ #dubskiii
Just happy to see Okc players get some love and then the city as well!!
Fav player in nba and I can’t wait to watch his little brother at CU
DUB is the best, what a great interview. Thunder Up!!!
this is such a great episode !
the thunders were my league pass team last year hopefully people get to see how good/fun they are this season
Jj thank you for this show. As a basketball fan I love to listen to the game being broken down. I’ve always been a basketball player before a “hooper”
Idk if anyone asked but I would really appreciate it if they ask jeremy lin onto the podcast. I know he's not a current player but I still think it would be cool to hear their conversations together.
Humble guy man gotta love it💯
It’s been a while since u interviewed someone we cared about jdub is fire
great episode thunder got a squad fr
w episode lets go jdub, okc going far this season
This team is scary, they already could beat a good team on any given night last year. Watching them play is fun, the ball moves all over and i see completely unselfish young players who play to maximize each other
These Okc players are the most humble down to earth people. Hope nothing but success
Love JDub. Already on the ascension for stardom
Praise be to Presti. The man knows how to craft a team, not just a collection of players.
This boy got his head screwed on right, would be an asset to *any* team.
Cool and Insightful interview. Please get Quentin Grimes as a guest in The future JJ. Solid!!!
I have no connection to the thunder but Jalen is one of my favorites in the league
Synchronicity, like when something works out far better than could be expected or when something you are dealing with internally somehow manifests in external life. It's special when it happens. It's nice when things work out.
😊
Love the love for OKC.
Get an Jaylen Brown interview please it would be a great one.
J J. Is going to make a great GM one day. Very smart understands the game and analytics , plus he understands the locker room aspect
This is a great attitude to have as a young player. Only using scoring as your criteria for gauging whether or not a guy is a great player is the fastest way to let everybody know that you don’t know ball 😂
The irony
5’11 people with a 6’11 wingspan is crazy
Crazy that Dub went to one of my high school’s rivals, wow!
Get Sam Presti on!
Best episode yet
pj tucker
The lack of time stamps bro😭😭😭
just now noticed that jj was on the court when draymond went off on paul pierce on his 'farewell' tour. We need a recap of that somehow jj
JJ must’ve forgotten that russ PG and melo were on the team cuz they def had expectations with that squad in ‘18 and ‘19
Anyone got the clip JJ is talking about at 38:50?
3:30 The oddsmakers don't necessarily think the Clippers improved. The oddsmakers think the public will think the Clippers improved. They're not trying to predict what happens, they're not looking at the talent of the team or their chemistry or anything of the sort. They're trying to set the line so that half the money comes in on each side, full stop.
14:14 I know it was a mistake, but I like to think Tommy had a Freudian slip calling the Clippers the Cripples 🤣
OKC BABY LETSSS GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
J-Dub seems like.a well-adjusted kid. I'm sure his parents are proud.
This is very current in time in a way great choice of guest JJ
2:19 im guilty lmao. but in all seriousness for some reasons thunder players never had a big platform, so its nice to see that these are starting to change like with shai being a model, PG having his podcast, JDUB having a yt channel and many more
jaleeeen!! letsgo all star season
Get Manu on! And, of course, ask him about the no looking pass to Danny Green were you looked confused JJ!
Like this Kid. 😂
Good dude! 👌💪
Jj respect Gd people's..
Thunder Levelling up ❤👍
Love Thunder.! 100:)
Fun young team 😎
Michael Cage.. 🙌😇
Miss your comms respect.. Okc
Kiwi baller, will follow support Stephen Adams, where ever he goes..!
NBA ❤🙏
JJ, would you happen to have an idea on if starters will be logging 30+ minutes for tournament games? Or will they take the soccer approach to cup games and showcase youth talent?
What's with the thumbnail JJ? Looking like Jack Torrance from The Shining there😅
JDub on the poddddd
Imagine this OKC team with Steven Adams atill there. They'd be the best defensive team with a top 5 offence in the league
Not really. Lol
Adams hasn’t played in 3 years bud
@@rob2435yes he has, watchu talking bout 😂😂😂
@@rob2435bro hahaha that’s so inaccurate it’s hilarious he played last season and the season before and the season before.
Im a thunder fan and Steve o one of my all time favorite players and yeah just no lmfao
2:33 homie I want a Cedi Osman interview
What a great dude.
I would like to see porzingus on
J dub is him okc dynasty on the way🗣️
THUNDER UP GENTLEMAN LETS HAVE A GOOD ONE
THUNDER UP!
Jj.....petition to get time stamps my brother! Love your pods. And yes- i am lazy to go through the entire pod 😂
JJ interview your old teammate Vince Carter !
16:23 J Dubb interview
He indeed did not have a CZcams clip for us.
synchronicity
OKC so lucky man they got a great young exciting team
Why didn’t Jason add the clip??? 😭
We gotta get Jason fired now
Think they add clips in the segment videos that they drop along the week. Been thinkin that inserting clips into the long-form would elevate the talking point massively
LIVE POD OKC😤🤠
Jason didn’t include the dunk clip
Gotta come to Tulsa for the Southern Hills round!
i think the word you were looking for at the beginning of the interview was serendipity?
When talking about expectations around the 25 minute mark, JJ says the thunder have expectations for the first time since 2016. What about 2018 with melo, pg, and russ
17:15 synchronicity* Jj
Time stamps are needed
Been waiting for booker to be on pod for years now jj. Cmon now
Love JDub
NGL, I use JJ's jumpshot on my 6'4 perimeter threat, 2K do be accurate
what a cool dude
Gotta get shai and giddey on the show next at some point, it’s only right
Chet or SGA would make for some really good interviews
Hey JJ Redick, I’m no NBA player but if the state is not as lit as California, why not invest into the state? And you know make it more like home, like build restaurants from other states and bring it to OKC. Do players ever think about that or how does that thinking process work?
I get the whole “I might get traded” part but depending on the situation, what other parts factor in? I’ll appreciate a response
Because we’re all poor and our state leaders are…..not ideal. Plus the only rich people here only care about building their gated communities out in the woods.
The land is too spread out for any player to make any money in building anything brick and mortar here.
I think it has more to do with that Celebrity party crowd like those Beverly Hills parties. Based on how vague they are, but saying nothing to do I can only imagine it’s things you don’t want to rat your celeb friends out for.
get the slob wizard on the show next
😂 Giddey 🪄
God’s country is Oklahoma y’all. Let’s go Thunder!!
Ace Hood looking nice
3 things.
1.Jason was indeed not nice enough to put the clip in for the viewers on youtube 😂😂.
2. If the intent is to be the best you can be, 9 year olds should have a gather step. It would provide more practice and if they learn early it will make them better.
3. I REALLY hope we have the ability to pay these kids when the time comes. Small market team and with SGA, Chet, Giddey and eventually Jalen and Wallace. Plus we need a good true 5 with size and rebounding. Got a good team, hopefully money doesnt mess it up. One more player and its multiple chips 💪🏼
MORE THUNDER PLAYERS
can you try to get jalen brown on
I don’t see the included dunk
