As a retired U.S. Army Colonel, I’m proud that my then teen-age Paisley uncles honorably served and were KIA serving w the Aryglls in the Great War.

Thanks for sharing genuine Scottish music, it has been a long time since I'd heard spoken Scottish accents.

Hello. I am an American-born Scott. I love the bagpipe. It is in my blood, like a beat inside my soul. My clans are Fraser on my Grandmother's side and Lockhart on my grand-da's side. The bagpipe is not just an instrument. The bagpipe is a beat in the Scottish soul.

Wow never knew this! Absolutely fantastic and a huge huge huge part of military life and history. Let’s not forget those poor drummers and bagpipers etc during past conflicts that would lead their units into battle.

This is by far the best recruiting and public information video put out by the British Army I have ever seen. You have encompassed the meaning of what it is like to be a serving P&D member in all meaning of the sense from history to modern active service. Congratulations, the school has done an outstanding job that is second to none.

Love the different Scottish accents and English ones, too. But have to say it’s the Scots that give the British army it’s flash. It’s the pipes and kilts. Alba forever.

Most of the English accents are members who have joined owing to descent. IE, diaspora with a long tradition of joining their particular regiment, or simply those who have taken to recieved pronounciation.

There are some amazing pipers and drummers in Cape Town Highlanders in South Africa, the Australian Army, and the Canadian Army as well as Royal Canadian Air Force pipe bands as well. But of course ignorant people would always assume Brits must necessarily have the best.

H2X2E2532 That’s not that ignorant that’s fact. Whilst, many of those commonwealth countries have brilliant pipers, stemming from their Scottish Heritage. (Cape Town Highlanders, Toronto Scottish, Calgary Highlanders, etc) Scotland, and Ireland (and England) have the very best in the world.

James Lochridge Aye, they should let, 71 Engineer Regiment have one, however I assume there would be some debate over dress, as the regiment is the reserve engineer regiment for both Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
