I really like the way Niko shows respect towards Gravelli. Niko and Gravelli cutscenes are one of the best of the games
Facts
MexSov I noticed Niko has a tendency to respect sincere and honest people. Even if they aren't like him or if they've done unsavory stuff, Niko likes it when a person shows an honest aspect of themselves. Roman and Brucie, for example, put on a personal and live with their heads in the clouds. He gets annoyed with Brucie antics after a while and gets more sarcastic with him.

When you work for Gravelli you feel like you've ascended to a whole new level of operating, leagues above everyone else. It's incredible, really.
I liked the part (in second mission) where John's guard didn't let Niko in, but then Gravelli said "Ahhhh, Niko. Good to see you.".
People don’t realize it but gravelli was the most important character of the whole game. He single handedly got niko what he was looking for all along. Really disappointing he didn’t play a bigger part in the story or even the GAMBETTI family as a whole. The gambinos in real life are the most powerful mob family in NY and always have been. Bring back LIBERTY CITY rockstar we need it imagine how amazing nyc would be in a new gta

They are not the most powerful and have not always been. Genovese historically have been the most powerful. Only the years of carlo were they semi on top.

It’s actually LCP/IAA man gave Niko the man he was searching, captured him in Switzerland and delivered to LC for doing his bidding. Gravelli missions were among those favours.

When I first heard he died peacefully in his sleep I couldn't help but smile.
He wasn't a good person, but in the end he was doing his best to avoid things getting worse and I'm glad he went out quietly without suffering.

Despite Mr. Gravelli being a very powerful criminal, he actually wants to get rid of all the real criminals out there trying to seize power before his passing. Although he has done many bad things in his life, he tries to do what is right for himself and for other people, eliminating the worst criminals rather than obtaining personal gain for his own gang. Rest in peace, Mr. Gravelli. We will miss you.

When you compare and contrast Niko's first introduction to Pegorino and Gravelli, you can easily see why Niko has respect for the latter, but not the former.
Pegorino tries to make an impression on Niko with the tough guy routine, and talks in circles, thinking he can play mind games, which obviously does not work on Niko. In contrast, Gravelli understood Niko was being sarcastic with his "bleed the city dry" remark, and unlike Pegorino, he does not beat round to bush to convince Niko to work for him. He knows Niko's capabilities, and his offer was straightforward: work for him (and by extension. the IAA via the ULP Agent), in exchange, the IAA will get the cops off Niko's back, as well as locate Darko Brevic.
Between how these two mob bosses present themselves, it's not a hard choice to decide who to work with.
Gravelli was the OG OG Gta character, wisdom and an unlimited perspective on humanity, crime and longevity
