It didn't even destroy the panther, only immobilising it by destroying the engine.
to clear up any confusion about the officer shooting the t34 with a p38, the reason he did that was to ignite the debree on the exhaust that then would cause a chain reaction to the engine and fuel tanks. especially on the t34 debree build up around the engine exhaust was a big problem so it was an easy target with anything that could ignite it. It was very important to clean it thoroughly each time you went out to make sure that won't happen and to prevent fire.

I recommend 'Жаворонок' film from 1960s. It's about similar story, with many moments like this, as the whole movie is about T-34 raging behind German lines, surprising Germans doing their everyday stuff, and ruining their day. Destroying their new moments, crashing through buildings, symbolically destroys whole German army when it blasts through cinema building that displays German propaganda film. T-34 is portrayed in the film almost like an angered god. At the end of the film, all Russian soldiers die sadly, and T-34 drives itself towards sun.
Tbh, to anyone who doesn’t know what a real Panther’s suspension looked like, those replicas are extremely good. The only one I had an issue with was the PzIV earlier in the film, but otherwise a lot of effort was put into this film to make it look as realistic as possible. Massive props for the guys behind this film. Great story and character development as well, and those slow mo scenes are phenominal
crimsonrad There was also a replica of what I believe was either a PzIV F2, or maybe a G model. You can tell by the *replicated 75mm gun. The PzII and PzIII’s were really damn accurate, but the one PzIV looked a bit off
The whole film is kind of fun. Little bit of realism and lots of liberty with reality. It is entertaining though. Another one similar is KV1,about you guessed it a kv1 tank and crew. Both are heavy on soviet propaganda but that isn't unusual for a war movie.
I feel T-34 isn't really that serious, the whole story is so over the top it's clear it doesn't want to rewrite history, I would compare it to something like Kelly's heroes.

The irony is that most of first series Panthers actually caught fire when Germans were loading them on a train. The carburettors were leaking petrol, and engine bay was proof from the bottom. When Panthers went on the ramps, gasoline reached hot exhaust pipes and tanks went on fire.
I think the reason why the German officer shot behind the tank with a pistol as it was running away was because he wanted to make the event more dramatized, because of the crew that shot the movie. He is a strong antagonist, but the director wanted to show his humiliation against the relatively weak protagonist.
I do still like how they just ram into the expensive German cars and they said this: "what did we hit?" -the guy beside driver "we hit some expensive German cars" -commander "or was an expensive car" -driver
- What did we hit? - German car park - This WAS a german car park It's actually really hard to translate the last part of the dialog because the driver just said: "Was! (Был!)" and in Russia, it's a completely normal thing to say the verb only, but in english it isn't, so the translators are gonna have some trouble with this part of the movie.

Well it looked like the standard soviet armor piercing round so I expected that as well. Soviet High Explosive rounds are larger and have different coloration.
The panthers are t55's with a Panther built around them, they don't have the interlocking wheels that panthers always have, and there's only one space between the 4th and 5th road wheel and the one behind it, indicating that it's from a t55, nothing else. Plus, t34's are too old to be used in modern-day movies, but 31 t55s are still in service.

Believe it or not, the film is based on real events, in fact it is a remake of the old Soviet film "The Skylark". Yes, in reality there was such an episode of the war when a Soviet tank with a crew managed to escape from German captivity and in reality the Germans used captured Soviet tankers as cannon fodder for their training, but there was only one "but" - there was no ammunition in the tank. The crew managed to successfully maneuver to crush several German vehicles and break out of the camp and break through to their own, and this does not detract from the feat of our Soviet people. The T-34 film in Russia was also met very critically for the tales that it shows: the Germans do not check the tank they give to prisoners (and it contains ammunition), episodes of tank battles that look like a computer game, etc. For that I like that the Americans and their other hangers-on are not at all surprised by such films as "Fury", where one American "Sherman" wins World War II)))

They were tortured in that POW camp and were going to be used as a living target for the Nazi Tanks Training. Luckily for them, the germans gave them a tank in which (they didn't know that) were hidden several tank bullets. The russian tank crew realized this is their chance to survive, so they took it and fought. Their scream "URA!" is the splash of emotions when they realized they are finally free.
Oh, you have not yet seen the Soviet epic film called "Liberation" ... There are large-scale and epoch-making tank battles, in 5 episodes, and Stalin and Zhukov, and Stalingrad, and Kursk battle, and Berlin.

Believe it or not, the film is based on real events, in fact it is a remake of the old Soviet film "The Skylark". Yes, in reality there was such an episode of the war when a Soviet tank with a crew managed to escape from German captivity and in reality the Germans used captured Soviet tankers as cannon fodder for their training, but there was only one "but" - there was no ammunition in the tank. The crew managed to successfully maneuver to crush several German vehicles and break out of the camp and break through to their own, and this does not detract from the feat of our Soviet people. The T-34 film in Russia was also met very critically for the tales that it shows: the Germans do not check the tank they give to prisoners (and it contains ammunition), episodes of tank battles that look like a computer game, etc. For that I like that the Americans and their other hangers-on are not at all surprised by such films as "Fury", where one American "Sherman" wins World War II)))

They were tortured in that POW camp and were going to be used as a living target for the Nazi Tanks Training. Luckily for them, the germans gave them a tank in which (they didn't know that) were hidden several tank bullets. The russian tank crew realized this is their chance to survive, so they took it and fought. Their scream "URA!" is the splash of emotions when they realized they are finally free.
