    I still can't believe how much shit Kia and Hyundai still get from close minded, unintelligent individuals that refuse to face facts.

    I have to agree. I had a 2013, and this one is much more solid, balanced, and the more total package. I tell everyone to stop laughing at Kia, and go out and drive one, and be surprised how good these cars really are. I love your review method. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Kia Cadenza for 2017.

    Liked this way back when it came out and now I'm driving the 2017 SXL!! Just need enough time off for a good long road trip!

    We're still in love with our 2011 LX and 2012 EX Optimas....new design doesn't capture the striking exterior or interior, tho 58% stiffer body does get me interested. Our 2011 LX is our sporty driver, the 2012 feels more like a Lexus!

    I drove one at the Philly auto show this year. It was a really nice ride, and nice quality. However I would not buy one. I would wait a year. They tank in value so fast. They do not lease as well as the accord either. So my vote is used and get a nice car at 40 to 50% off original retail.

      I checked the resale value of Kia and they don't depreciate as much as some think...actually Nissan is worse than Kia, didn't know right?

    • @brittoncoil2518
      @brittoncoil2518 Před 5 lety +3

      Auto shopper definitely won’t be 40-50% cheaper. At the most about 20% cheaper lol

      @@brittoncoil2518 Facepalm* you're not very bright britton. Where I am SXLs go for $40,000. I see a used 2016 SXL on autotrader 70k Kilometers (not bad) for only $21K. And plenty of used 2016 SXs for $20k with about 30,000 - 60,000 Kilometers. You're to dumb or lazy to do research or something?

    • @bvedant
      @bvedant Před 5 lety +4

      GSJ different markets don't all depreciate at the same rate. you might want to have an attitude check

    • @brittoncoil2518
      @brittoncoil2518 Před 5 lety +1

      GSJ you’re not bright. You’re original comment said buy one of these at a year old for half price. These vehicles are now 3 years old, not one year old. So you’ve proven yourself wrong.

      The quilted aubergine Nappa leather feels great and looks better! Think luxury car for an affordable price!

    Good video, noticed a lot of cabin noise but I'm guessing it was due to the mic on the camera mounted on the windscreen being used instead of the presenter. I have driven one and it was actually quiet inside. Thanks for the video!

    • @TestDrivenTV
      @TestDrivenTV  Před 8 lety +2

      +waynerm002 Cabin noise is low. Our lavalier microphone on the presenter is very sensitive and picks up every little thing. Even though we do a lot of sound work in post-production to equalize things, it seems noisy by comparison to our sound proof studio audio which you hear in the other non driving parts.

    • @bvedant
      @bvedant Před 5 lety

      waynerm002 they also sell these with really cheap, loud tires. so swap them out and road noise is practically a non-issue. the double-paned glass does wonders

    I subscribed to your channel! I wanted to let you know that this car is not any slower than the v6 competitors at all, including the accord v6 and altima v6! As motortrend said, the new optima ran 0.1 second slower than the older 274hp generation in their tests. Edmunds tested the 2011 optima sx at 6.5 0-60 and 14.6 @ 98 in quarter mile. Road and track ran 14.5 @ 99.8 in the 2011. The new optima has a much better torque curve, and has 260 lb/ft of torque available right from 1350-4000 rpm, while v6 competitors have less amd available from mid 4000's. The new one will run in good conditions 14.6-14.7 @ 96-98 dependings on conditions. It also has the same engine as the lancer evo.

    Funny how similar to Volkswagen those gauges, and the interior overall, are aftet the head of Audi started working there. :D

      @TestDrivenTV  Před 8 lety

      +enes sharku Agrees. The Mazda6 is a good contender as well. It's hard to mention them all. It didn't come to mind here given they don't offer a comparable power option such as their new 2.5 liter turbo. Perhaps they will at some point.

    Interesting Sam...I think this is the first time I have seen you score a car with 5's across the board and yet not add it to your "I'd buy it" list. You seemed to like the car but were not in love with it.

      +Sean Johnstone Yea that's what I thought. But most ppl care about hp & torque.

      for torque at a lower rpm band

    • @10293
      @10293 Před 6 lety +1

      Jephrey Leroy They detuned it for drivability, the turbo was more spastic on the older models and the torque curve wasn't near as refined. The fuel economy was an added benefit and unfortunately, you're incorrect. In this class of vehicle people care more for fuel economy than power, in the sports sedan category than you'd be right but in midsize sedans such as this one you're wrong.
