    Your alternator cooling shroud, and pipe that connects to the white plastic tube at the front is missing. Without it you will eventually cook your alternator. It’s close proximity to the exhaust manifold means it will get hot. £130 for a tie rod - welcome to the Porsche tax! Good video 😊

    Tip for the ferry. Take the DFDS from Dover to Dunkirk if you are planning on heading to Germany or parts beyond. 2 hours on the ferry but you make up that time by being right next to the Belgian border and being able to get out of France without incurring any motorway tolls. Last time I went to the continent I got bumped to an earlier dover-calais crossing and by the time I had fought the traffic and roadworks getting out of calais I would have done just as well to had stuck to my guns and taken the dunkirk ferry an hour later.

    It'd be more fun to take the Ambassador. It might even be a first.

      Trailer it cause I doubt it would make it there around the track and home again! 😊

      When I've got a bit more of an economical substantial towing car that would definitely be on the cards, it would make a great video!

    I now own this little beauty, picked it up today. Runs a treat, just got to find what all the console buttons do and get them all working, looks like fun.

    Goodday from down under, really enjoy the channel, if you need a digital manual for the 924 let me know.

    You should look at the supercharger kit for these. Not tons of boost, seems to be engineered with durability in mind. I bet it'd make for a bit of fun around the ring!

    I live about an hour and a half away from the Nordschleife, near Echternach in Luxembourg. Give me a ping when you're planning on going there. I am restoring a Lotus Excel at the moment... Still a long way to go, however. Cheers, Neil.

    This is actually a really well timed video for me. I've been wanting to take my MX5 on a trip to the ring (from Ireland)

    That 924’s engine undertray is missing, that’s required to improve engine cooling, also the air cooling pipe to the alternator is missing, that alone can destroy the alternator bearings. If left off, as it’s so close to the exhaust down pipes. (Ask me how I know)

      How does the undertray make any difference? Have a 924 without an undertray but with overheating issues, so kinda curious.

    • @tastyclassics

      @@Bob_Sacamano1975 fantastic question! It is essentially forcing the air to go the way you want it to ie through the radiator or over specific bits!

      @@tastyclassics Good answer and after a quick google I added an undertray to my shopping list!

      @@Bob_Sacamano1975 yes it was missing on my first 924, and it was always running ‘hot’ and once I got an undertray fitted the temp dropped dramatically !, had the same scenario when I got my 968 , the undertray made a huge difference to the running temps within the engine bay, an aerospace engineering friend of mine explained to me it’s summat to do with air ducting and pressures, etc… all I know is it worked, and dropped the temp gauge by a couple of ‘clicks’

    Half way through the video and im probably being pre-emptive but; Do you not get breakdown cover? (I know the car is relatively trustworthy, but you never know).
    I would eventually like to take my restoration volvo 460 turbo eventually, never been to a track day or anything do you recommend practicing/learning to race over here first? 😌

    • @tastyclassics
      @tastyclassics  Před rokem +3

      Break down cover you have to really read the small print, a lot of them don't cover older cars and then European is also tricky, then definitely not covered for ring activity so I would take spanners and a credit card unless you can find a good breakdown recovery deal, only my two pence though as I have been left stranded in an old discovery that wasn't covered on my policy! You'll get a car towed back from Europe privately from around £500/£1k depending on distance etc so just weigh it up 👍💪 just take it you won't regret it!

    • @tastyclassics
      @tastyclassics  Před rokem +3
