I'm going to say something as someone whose worked in beauty retail and am the nerd who reads cosmesutical studies.... Silicone, sulfates, alcohols, and parabens are not evil things to be avoided at all cost. They have purposes in people's routines because of their properties. Parabens are antimicrobial preservatives so mold doesn't grow in your products, sulfates are safe to use for product build up way better than the alternatives, alcohol can be used as a binding ingredient and is fine in a rinse off product, silicone helps seal the hair or be used for the slidability and are washable. An ingredient list doesn't reveal how they function in a formulation and the percentages would be harmful if you're using INDUSTRIAL amounts. And their names are actually umbrella terms! Alcohol? Sulfate? Which kind? If anything, consider what ingredients you want for the hair density/porosity/whether chemical or heat treated and also a person's lifestyle, and relative humidity of their area. This isn't to be rude, but having a "NO NEVER USE THIS" mentality wears people down because they don't know the true reason as to why their hair care isn't working for them or will struggle to find affordable products that are "safe". I've had clients come in scared and confused because they fear they what they don't understand after being told their routine that worked great for them is all "wrong".
You're basing this on what? Straight hair? Most hair care products are not formulated with curly hair in mind. Silicones are fine for straight hair, but certain silicones will build up and weigh down your curl pattern.
I gotta agree with you on this one for sures! I don’t understand why so many people think all alcohols in hair products are bad 🤷🏽♀️ it just depends on what type of alcohol is in it along with how much you use that product!😭 As far as silicones in hair products they are good as long as you don’t overdue it with the product that you are using with that ingredient in it. If you use silicones frequently it can cause build up and un healthy hair :(
I feel like most shampoos and conditioners do my hair well, but Aussie on the other hand is terrible for my hair. It stripped away my hair and caused it to be rough.🫠
@@DivergentBeautyFlairThere are breathable washable silicones that are water based. I prefer to stay away from oil based because harder to rinse out with looted hair since you gotta be careful about sulfates.
Aussie is the only brand that works for me. I have a really wavy almost curly hair. The normal curly products are too heavy for my hair texture. Aussie is just amazing!
That Garnier fructise had my hair growing to my butt as a kid and now as an adult I decided to go back to basics and started using it again and my hair feels the best with it. If your hair is doing fine keep using it, if it’s doing poorly then switch 🤷🏻♀️ it’s not that hard.

I use Garnier fructice on my hair and my hair is long healthy, straight, shiny and almost at hip length. Just saying. I think making people feel paranoid about using affordable products is isn't very nice. Maybe some fancy $60 dollar shampoo is "better" but most people can't afford that. As long as you are being gentle with your hair, not over using heat, not dying it, and eating a nutritious diet your hair will be healthy.
You are right. I use Garnier Fructis on my hair aswell and I'm very satisfied with it and it's not bad for your hair at all. I won't spend like 60 dollars for one shampoo just to get same effect as Garnier shampoo give.
Different hair textures need different things. This works great for you because your hair is straight, but people with truly curly hair need something to lock the moisture in so that the curls retain their shape and don’t break. That’s why the market is so vast.
I’ve tried all shampoos on my afro and the garnier one is THE BEST for me. I also use silicones in my conditioners & oils and hair is thriving. I have 3C/4A long afro hair :)
My goodness. I'm so glad I'm not alone. I'm 4a/4b high porosity and when I used "acceptable" hair products, my hair felt fine but I knew it lacked something. I saw the Garnier Fructis leave in conditioner and bought it because it was cheap and my hair was so moisturized and sleek and shiny. I checked the ingredients and honestly didn't mind the silicone because the results were resulting. I wash my hair once a week (with a moisturizing shampoo) and once a month with a sulfate shampoo to make sure all the silicone is out. After washing you best believe I'm running back to those silicones😊
When I experienced hairfall, I did all the following to effectively control it: Incorporate massage for your scalp into your routine. Don’t use very hot water when rinsing your hair. Protect your hair from too much sweat. Use a dual tooth neem comb to detangle wet hair. Reduce your sugar and junk food consumption. Use mild anti hair fall shampoo and hair oil like Littleeextra cocconion. Nurture a positive mindset for general well being.
Silicones and sulfates can actually be very beneficial to your hair. Sulfates deeply clean and can be used once a week to get rid of product build up. Silicone coats your hair and makes it shiny. Not your enemies at all.
Ok but let’s be realistic here those products may not work for her hair but that’s not the case for everyone because every one has different hair and your hair has to accept a product in order for it to work.
