    The one time met her, I was an F&B director at a fine hotel in Nashville, She was one of our guests, She came downstairs to the restaurant which was packed because we had a fabulous Sunday Brunch. She had a TV filming just down the block with Winona Judd, which she said was a complete disaster. She came down to the restaurant, which was packed, gave her iconic smile, and shouted "Hey everybody! Have a great day! The room went quiet as people realized what they had just experienced, and who she was. What a doll!

    What i love about rosie is she was actually a fan herself of most of her guests,,and you can just tell she truly just loved/enjoyed celebrity culture ,,, she managed to make the audience feel that you were no different than her, or that there wasn't much separating us from her ... she always seemed down-to-earth & humble.
    She was just fun to watch, Unlike Ellen, who is so fake & just has on anyone that's viral or any new star of the moment. I've never seen Ellen as down-to-earth or humble, maybe in the early days of her show, but now she's too big for her britches.
    Whearas i pictured Rosie living a life not much diff than all of us (even with all her money), i picture Ellen's as having a super A-list lifestyle. I get the sense Rosie would've done this show for free, but Ellen only does it for the huge paycheck; it's just a job to her, plus she gets all the perks of fame, the hollywood connections, etc, because of the show. And i think that translates to tv.

      I humbly disagree with the "she truly just loved/enjoyed celebrity culture" assessment... Listening to her being interviewed over the years, she actively avoided the "scene" as much as possible. What she LOVED was the legendary talents that we ALL grew up appreciating. She holds them in the same reverence we [non-celebrity] folk do. She gives them the love and respect that we appreciate. That is why we loved to watch her with them... Whether it was Carol Burnett, Barbra Streisand, Florence Henderson, Aretha Franklin or Patti Labelle, she gave them their flowers anytime they were a quest on her show and WE appreciated it.
      I concur with your Ellen sentiment.

      @@reginaldsaffold4856 that's true, I didn't mean she is like into celebrities simply bc they are celebrities, but bc she was actually a true fan herself. And didn't consider herself in the same caliber.

    Isn't it about time Bette got her honourary Oscar? I suspect not much chance as she pissed too many off early on, & is more a comic. But hey...she deserves it. And has has made a LOT of Hollywood folk tons of cash.

    PF JD .....Bette Midler still would never had made it on American Idol... Bette Midler started in a gay bar... her huge following mostly gays and smart movie choices is what made her career successful.

    • @rolandreyna215
      @rolandreyna215 Před rokem +1

      No. Doing her own Las Vegas show made her successful. In the 70s she was second or third fiddle to Cher and Elton John on Cher's show. Then she started getting more acting jobs in the mid 80s.

      Well her singing and talent got her the role of Georgette in Oliver and Company. Then she did her iconic song on Hocus Pocus. Bette is not a singer first, but an entertainer. And she can sing better than any idol because it actually isn't a singing competition but a popularity contest. I wonder if any idols will still be singing at 77.

  • @edwardscherry3004
