Hi Stuart..You may not remember me,but I remember you. What you were a young kid in San Diego County playing in all the bluegrass festivals I was backing you up on guitar. Great memories! I hope to see you in Reno with Bela, another one of my favorites. Cheers, Nancy Raven.

He is my favorite bluegrass fiddler. Check him out with Sam Bush and Bryan Sutton playing Patty on the Turnpike.

I got to see Stuart and Allison Brown (as 14 and 13? yo kids) in 1978 take on the contest field as a two person band at Bill Grants festival in Hugo Oklahoma. These two kids walked out with four or five instruments between them and proved to be the best pickers there. They didn't win because the singing was a little "thin" but I have been following the two of them since.

There is no wonder why he earned the accolades. Stuart Duncan produces the finest sound out a fiddle than anyone I've ever heard, and I've heard them all. And seen many, from Stuart to Kenny Baker to Vassar Clements. His double stops are the best.

Better than mark O’Connor? He’s great(really great) but mark may be the best I’ve heard. Mark brings the strength of a classical player with the improv skill of the fiddle greats. Then again, perhaps I need to listen to mr Stuart some more first.

Just how I figured he was in real life, a show-off, a loud-mouth and hung up on himself. Just joking.
    A real gentleman fiddler.

I wish a musically-intelligent person could interview him, someone who could really get into his brain. Ask him how he comes up with some of his best blues licks (ex, with Ricky Skaggs, Ancient Tones or Soldier of the Cross). I don't know much--am classically-trained-- but sure feel like S Duncan is the best. Everything he does sounds so fresh and in perfect proportion to whatever else is going on around him. He is the one to learn from!
