Yup. The actual reason they had to sew her in is because those black pants were vintage 1950s pants and they were starting to get a little old so, the zipper ended up breaking off when they tried to zip it up. So, it was either find a new costume or sew her into the vintage ones. Obviously, they decided to sew her in 'cause they knew those pants looked incredible!

The best hommage to John Travolta, he lost his wife to breast cancer yesterday, unfortunately Olivia also had to battle a few times with breast cancer, this is from the classical movie "Grease" made in the seventies but with a storyline that took place in the fifties, I remember at the time the film and soundtrack were a phenomenal success, this song is one of the best selling songs in history and was number one in the US for several weeks. "You're the One That I Want" is one of the best-selling singles in history, having sold over 6 million copies in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France alone, with estimates of more than 15 million copies sold overall.

Grease is still one of the best film musicals of all time! I envy you the chance to see it for the first time! It’s so iconic that there have been a lot of Grease Sing-a-long events during this quarantine, including a recent one broadcast on national TV. I saw it in the theater when it first came out, when I was almost 7, and I had the double album soundtrack, which I played *constantly*. I wanted a Grease lunchbox soooo badly but I already had a Muppets one, and we didn’t have money to throw around. This movie was so popular that when kids had sleepover parties, we would act out the whole dang movie. Most wanted to be Danny or Sandy, but there were always a few who wanted to be Rizzo or Frenchie or Kinicki or Cha Cha - you’ll see what I’m talking about soon enough! There are actually some dirty lyrics, but most of us didn’t understand what we were singing anyway, plus there were also parts where the words were hard to understand and we just mumbled our way through. We didn’t have access to lyrics then unless they were printed on the album sleeve, which these were not. Last thought... my mom cried in the theater during “Hopelessly Devoted,” and I thought that was so silly at the time (like how can anyone cry during GREASE?!), but later as an adult, I cried during that song, too, when I saw it again in the theater during a retrospective. I told my mom, and she said, “See?!! It IS sad!!” And it is!! But then it gets happy again, because it’s GREASE!! 😊

    This is the thing!
Most 70s and 80s music was fun. Some was fantastic, some good and there was bad.
But overall the music of this era reflected the fun time it was to live and be young back then.
Music that made you smile and feel good. What do we have today?Music that can be negative and aggressive.

Sandy or Olivia Newton John has the most loveliest voice and can sing her socks off ! Plus, she dressed as a good girl and to get John Travolta she changed to look hot or "Kool" back in those days of the 50s. So that is why she dressed with tight pants and off the shoulder shirt and teased hair to fit the "Kool Girls of that time!

This is from the movie version of the musical "Grease." Olivia Newton-John is playing Sandy, a virginal girl next door who has decided to become a greaser to win John Travolta's character. Note in the beginning of the video, she doesn't know what to do with the cigarette when she wants to get rid of it and she has to be prompted by one of the girls. It was a big hit on Broadway and as a movie.

Back in the 70's Olivia Newton John was one of the biggest singing stars around. She had released many albums, her early stuff being the best. Beautiful girl with a beautiful voice. Every guy I know was in love with Olivia back then. Please check out some of her music.

A little Trivia! LOL! This clip is from the movie "Grease" a term used to decribe the junk the guys used in their hair in the 50's. The Theme song to the movie was "Grease" sung by Frankie Valli and written by..DRUM ROLL PLEASE!... The BEE GEES!!! Olivia was a VERY CLOSE friend of the Gibb family, and recorded a hit duet with Andy Gibb, "Rest Your Love On Me". And of course, Travolta was the star of "Saturday Night Fever" that the Bee Gees wrote SO many hits for the soundtrack!

Fun fact: Grease came out the year I was born. My grandparents had it on vhs and I’ve watched it over 100 times in 30 years. I love this movie...no black people, but I grew up on it. Favorite song.

This is from the movie "Grease" which was originally a Broadway show. This song was not part of the original Broadway show, but the producer thought that after filming had pretty much completed that it needed another song and dance number featuring John and Olivia at the end of the movie, so John Farrar, Olivia's longtime songwriter and producer, was asked to write a song at the last minute. This is the song he came up with in one night. Most people think the song and the scene featuring it that you just watched is the highlight of the movie. It went on to become the most popular song from the soundtrack of the movie.

John Travolta is a very talented dancer. He dances in many of his movies. See Saturday Night Fever, a movie about disco music and dancing.

Oh! You have to check out the whole musical. This came out when I was about 13. Saw it at a drive in movie theater from the back of a pickup truck. We went back to see it again and again. It wasn't long until we were dressing up 1950s style, lining up down front and doing the songs along with them. Great fun

"Grease" is such a fun movie, and high schools all over the country have always put on this play for their spring production. lol But my favorite Olivia Newton John song is "Have You Ever Been Mellow". It is the most beautiful, relaxing song, I think her first big one back in 1975. You will love it. John Travolta is a really good actor and has done dozens of movies. One of his biggest movies is "Saturday Night Fever" that he stars in and got an Oscar nomination for. The Bee Gees (who I know you've reacted to) wrote most of the music for the movie.
