So achingly beautiful. Why is this man not singing the songs for every new epic movie produced? He absolutely owns every piece of music he touches and consistently outshines all other versions. It's humbling and amazing to watch and listen to him perform.

I Can finally let it all out as it’s been almost 2 years since I lost my Dad and 7 years lost my beautiful bride of 35 years. I can now CRY out to tell them both how much I miss them both, this song gave me closure of saying GOOD BYE, yet I know that one day I will see them again.

My heart is right there, with yours. My little girl loved the LOTR movies. She passed away the May after the first Hobbit movie was released. This song always reduces me to tears. This version is beautiful. May our children be at peace. Much love to you and yours. ❤
In the last ten years I lost both of my parents, my brother and sister, my son and my husband. You singing this song brings me to tears each time I hear it. However, it calms me every time I listen to it. I long for the day we will be together again, but my journey is not done on earth yet. I have two grandsons I must watch grow up before I leave. I never heard this song before. I am so grateful for hearing Dan sing it. I wish I had found Dan earlier than I have because just losing my mom I would have loved to have played this at her wake. What an emotional, heartful, loving performance. No one else could sing this any better, no one. Dan sings every song with true emotion, I love him and his voice but this song has me broken and heavy hearted with missing my mom. But as much as I love all his cover songs this touched me deeper than I could ever imagine. I will listen to this song, and Dan forever 💓

This was the same year his father died, so I would suspect that was the reason.

If you haven't seen The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit ( extended versions), then you shoul. Watch The Hobbit first, then LOTR, that would put them in order. The Hobbit is very good, and LOTR is the best series of films ever made..... I believe it's the BEST EVER, but I have to temper that because I'm just an old man of 80 years, who is not a movie expert. I first found the Hobbit books in 1965. For a good 20 to 25 years I read those books at least once a year. Since then, I still read them every 2 to 3 years. The movies I have watched at least 20 times. I always loved J.R.R. TOLKIEN's comment about how he had received many comments about the books. The one thing that he came away with with, though, was that "They were too short"! The whole story being 4 books.... I still have to agree!

This was one of my son's favorite songs. We played it at his funeral almost 4 years ago. I made it half way through before I started balling. You did an incredible job, I think only Billy's voice could have been a rival for your version. I love it, and I know he would have as well.

My mother passed away not too long ago, and we had just a few months before finished the Hobbit DVD series with this music, and we both loved it. Outside of one or two other songs, this rendition that you did here evokes the feelings that I have for my mom arriving on "white shores...and beyond, a far green country, into a swift sunrise...!" She always thought a little bit of heaven would be like the Shire, I am sure she sees something like it but much better. I am happy but longing to see her again in glory! Thank you , cara!
