I went on a day hike at Vogel State Park on the Coosa Backcountry Trail. A 12.9 mile loop with the trailhead located in Vogel State Park. There is a short access or connector trail leading to the Coosa Backcountry Trail loop which travels through the Chattahoochee National Forest for most of the 12.9 miles. I chose to take the loop in a counterclockwise direction. The trail leads one near the summit of three peaks: Coosa Bald, Wildcat Knob, and Slaughter Mountain. I stopped for lunch at a beautiful campsite near Call Stomp Gap. There were some amazing sights along the trail.
This loop is not for the novice hiker especially as a day hike. To complete this trail as a day hike one must travel at a fast pace. There are several excellent campsites along the trail affording an easy opportunity for an overnight.
I have included a link to the Vogel State Park website.

Hello! Cool that you have camped at Vogel State Park. It does have an extensive trail system with several connectors to other major trails. I appreciate the kind words and your encouragement since the AT. Thank you for liking the hair. It is almost too long to manage. Keep Hiking! Take care and God bless you and your family!

Amazing that you talked about the tongue. I was just telling my mom yesterday that words are so powerful that God created the whole universe with words. I always love your trail talk.

Hello! Trusting that you are doing well. Isn’t it amazing how the LORD works in our lives. We both were contemplating how the tongue can be used for good or evil. God is all powerful and it is awe inspiring to know His words created everything. You are very kind! May the LORD bless you and your family!

It's good to have found your channel again after a few years, life happens. I've always enjoyed your trail talk . I need to get over to Vogel State Park because I am tired of Fort Mountain. That's where I usually go to try to keep active in between AT section hikes .

Hello. Man I am glad you stopped by. You are very kind. My trail talk is just whatever is on my mind. I try to make it a little thought provoking. Yes, Vogel State Park is a cool spot to explore and will definitely give you some good exercise. You are blessed to have access to Fort Mountain. Beautiful area indeed. If you get a chance head up into the Cohutta Wilderness. Some pretty rugged spots and will definitely prepare one for the AT. Cool that you are section hiking the AT. Enjoy every step on every hike. Take care and Keep Hiking! God bless you!

digging the long hair..reminds me of my hairband days..lol,,,the Civilian Conservation Corps did so many good things...it really should be reinstated to put young folks to work and to develop an appreciation of the glory of the wilderness amongst young folks. Great video and I like the reflections as well.....I don't let folks negativity affect me...that is a waste of time like spitting in the wind...it just comes right back to you..so I just focus on the positive and move on.

Hello! Thank you for stopping by. Laughing! Your hair comment makes me smile. Can’t beat a good hair band. Yes, you are correct the CCC did some wonderful things. My grandfather worked in the North Georgia mountains. It is sad to see so many young folks that never experience the outdoors. Excellent advice. One can’t let other’s negativity bring you down. All we can do is control our own response and thoughts. Indeed a waste of time to do otherwise. Take care and Keep Hiking!

Hello! It is so good to hear from you! Indeed, isn’t Vogel State Park special. Even though I spent most of the day hiking, I took the time to explore. The cabins and campsites looked very nice and well maintained. Definitely enjoyed walking along the stream and lake. I can see why you guys make this an annual Christmas excursion. Good Stuff! Thank you so much for stopping by. Take care and God Bless you and your family! Keep Hiking!

@@Sleeves we are loving the Rain!! oh and feeling blessed like you would not believe lately/// something i dont mention much on my channel- we found some private land last year and by total Miracle a second parcel nearby became available in a tax sale. The first one is real nice but this second parcel is nothing short of Amazing due to the improved view and that there is stuff on it: a road and a shipping container, cement pads.. that this new one became available at this time, that i found a buddy to split it with, that we won it in a competitive auction/ was nothing short of miraculous. So yeah God has been incredibly benevolent with us lately. We have never felt more driven, these lands were meant for us to take care of/ we are the only owners on 2 square miles of empty private land, we are care taking for the other owners! we feel like our mission has been laid out for us

Hello! I appreciate you stopping by. I trust you guys are doing well. Yes, it was a tough hike. Definitely worth considering an overnight. As a day hike one must hike at a pretty fast pace. Thank you for the kind words about trail talk. I am laughing because most of my talks deal with issues were I struggle. My tongue is hard to control. Thank goodness the LORD is with us to help. Yes, the pants from Amazon made this trip and again they held up nicely. Take care and may the LORD bless you and your family!
