Watching this brings back so much muscle reflex. Me and my younger brother would play this for hours battling one another, eventually our whole family would join in and we would have tournaments back in the day. My little brother died last week at the age of 31 this game will always be a classic. RIP Brandon Jones "Lightnin"

They knew exactly what they were doing with the physics damage in this game. Glorious how so many of the specials toss the vehicles around.

Its mad how this game used to make me feel and how it looked back in the day, a game will never be able to replicate that feeling for me again, they just don't make them like they used to.
I call that the Sentimentality Effect, it generates Artificial opinions that create a false superiority by spending a few years in a medium, over the years it passes but almost nobody recognizes it

It got a remake in 2008 on Xbox Live called Vigilante 8 Arcade. You can even unlock some of the original PSX cars in all their 32 bit glory lol.

Vigilante 8 is one of my all time favorite video games. I wish they would release a PS4 version.
They released a Xbox 360 version that was a bummer. They should of made a sequel (A 3rd) one instead for Arcade.

this game was awesome for so many reasons but best of all was once you loaded the level you could put in any audio CD and it would use it as the soundtrack.
Someone needs to make another Vigilante 8 game for Xbox one and ps4. That would be AMAZING.

The fact that only Chassey Blue and Y the Alien has no representation of their own special weapon on the character select screen is subtle lol
I think what i loved most about this, was the fact that your weapons were actually on your car. I know its a subtle difference, but i think its awesome. I love both this and Twisted metal. some of the best games from my childhood!

If you have the second v8, you can pause it and put in the original disc and it will unlock all the original levels.
They really need to remake this game, so good

What a life time as a kid I had playing this wonderful game many hours into it I still have it now in 2020/2021 close but I had stop playing it when I was growing up around 15-25 years old I’m definitely coming back to it who still have their Super Nintendo & Nintendo 64 system

Do you remember making your car fly? Secret code Low Gravity. Collect missiles but use them as speed boosters. I would Shelia's car because It was small and light. And all you had to do was carefully nose up to a wall and hit the gas until you stood up like a rocket. Then you engaged the missiles as boosters to launch. Then you began to clear some buildings. Light off more missiles and go higher into the sky. There came a point where you hit the ceiling limit and could go no higher.
Then ready your saved weapons because when you stop climbing you turn nose down - and it's a long ways down, but your radar still picked up enemies.
From up high you reign down with the forces of hell only a dragon could yield. Fuck that Area 51 UFO - it can't reach this altitude - Destroyed.

I remember this game during my childhood, I currently play it on a emulator now, my favorite character I currently love is Sid Burn, reason why because of his badass shout he makes when you fire his Incinerator cannon, even his car looks awesome

Can't even begin to describe how many times I played this game. My Playstation overheating from prolonged use was a common occurence when playing this.

brings back memories I like that one hovering car from 2nd offence that had the laser on beam I recalled rounding up my opponents near the silos at the nuke plant and shooting the reactor behind the door and causeing a meltdown
Came to mind, thought I'd check it out, this was one of my fav games growing up as a kid and still is today. =] its good to see allot of others like, and enjoyed playing it as well.

THIS GAME WAS FUCKING SICK FOR THIS TIME. Not all know, but it even had a freaking upgrades if you finish an enemy with special shot after it is says - Total it, you get upgrade point. Even texture of cars was changing, adding new details for each character

my dad had a ton of ps1-ps2 games laying around when i was little. so me and my sister used to play some of them; some of the games we were scared to play because of the disc picture.
this game was definitely one we played a lot together, especially when my dad found out there were cheat codes to unlock all the cars. my sister would always choose the ufo as she was scared to fight the other people close range, and i always used the rv with the satellite. good memories
Holy shit, the game isn't even that old and it feels like it's been a century since my cousins and I played this together. I miss the way games used to be. Hell if I did well in school I grabbed a game almost every month since they weren't too expensive at the time.....Damn I miss that.

I remember the bass quake the most, mainly because my brother would utterly destroy me with it when i barely knew what i was even doing. Although i think the voices were different, i remember a much, much deeper voice. Was it even translated across countries?
haha this brings back memories, i remember playing the truck and just storing up specials and spamming off all my "steel gophers" then watching my truck get blown off the level in that brief end moment after you win. I also like how alot of the lvls had tons of destructible stuff. To think theres still tons of games out these days with car/bus or even plane proof objects
So just a heads up, when I was a 9 year old kid, I also thought convoy said "steel gopher" like the video titles convoy, but I later learned tires had steel belts in them. Its "steel belter." I'm now a 30 year old female trucker :) vigilante 8 will never be forgotten. And yes, I'd pay serious money to start a Kickstarter for a sequel. Or even a redone version!
