- Getting started on a "make it stop start and steer" project. Destined for off road workhorse endeavors.
Turns out it's not a Power Wagon, but a WC 6 Command Car!

Old Power Wagons are some of the most bad-assed trucks I've ever seen, short of a deuce and a half! The ones with a big honkin' winch on the front and a PTO on the back have got to be the greatest farm trucks/skidders ever.
Congratulations on the new NOT Power wagon Jeff ( Power Wagons started in 1946 with the WDX )
Your new slightly rusty friend is a 1941 model WC half ton Command Car, less winch, T207 series WC-6 or T211 series WC-15, chassis number will be between 8,644,701 and 8,694,193 Have a look at the engine number on the front left top corner of the block just below the head joint and see if it starts with the original T207-xxxxx or T211-xxxxx.
You can get all the parts for them off the shelf, ( Vintage Power Wagons in Iowa ) with the exception of the back body section, hood frame, and tailgate. They did do a heavy chassis version with helper rear springs but the chassis rear would need beefed up to make a usable dump truck.
Contrary to popular belief they will start and run just fine on 6 volts.
I left a comment up there ----> I was wondering if one could jus' wrap a new body on it ? Yes, I realize it's a hard job. But, wouldn't it be easier than, putting on a dump bed ? After all, (tho' it's hard to tell from this video) at least it appears enough of the body still exists to use as a guide. The body, can't be all that difficult to fabricate. Then, maybe buy or, make a tailgate ? And, is the canvass top still available ?
+Rock 'n Roll Daddio
Nice ideas and they flitted through my head all those many years I waited to get to this; but who"s gonna pay for it? I tried to sell it for the price of a small runnung dump truck (or trade), but to no avail. This is plan B
I sure am glad that you don't see a "hill you can't climb!" You just kept finding things that required attention and we're not phased. The "patience of Jobe" would be a good descriptor for you our friend. I know I don't have to tell you to keep on working but when you do that just always record your work for us to enjoy. Your's is one of the channels I love to check and get an indication that you have new uploads!
WHY...I have never seen that much stuff in a wheel cylinder....Holy Mackerel! Cool looking truck
Great project . Keep em coming and thanks
"Don't try this at home... do it at your friends house."
I laugh every time you say that. I'm gonna have to steal that and try it out on some other people and see if they laugh too.
Awesome! Love the intro. "It's a POWER WAGON!" with that awesome big grin!
came for the video, stayed for the accents, keep up the awesome vids XD
Love the show man! Great!
Great video, totally entertaining, keep up the great work!
The bloopers at the end were funny, not surprised what I seen in the condition that old PW is if its been sitting that long. Those old L head 6s needed 12 volts the 6 volt systems were so anaemic we used to have to deal with them in one of our forklifts after running out of engine supply when one engine wears out drop in another a 250cid Ford replaced the old Dodge.
LOVE YOUR WORK --HUMOROUS AND INFORMATIVE .. GDSF
Great videos!!
Awesome Old Brute ! I love the look of those old Military Power Wagons. Thanks for the out-takes! Bound to bust a few fingers and knuckles now and then... Love the dog! My oldest daughter says I have to keep our dog with me when I'm working on cars. He barks when I holler, and alerts them I may need help!..or he's hungry and wants to go inside!
just a note the power wagons were civilian 1 ton 4x4 not military the military was m37s
Ran when I parked it...words I have heard often. Always liked the old Power Wagons..look forward to this project. Please locate the beeping Smoke Detector (I assume that's what it is) and shoot it............LOL!
Very Good
Cool looks like fun... Happy Thanksgiving...
I think there are 2 different sized pistons in that wheel cylinder.
looks like a great project
Nice Truck, I have a 41 closed cab and a 66 civilian power wagon.
She's a right fun rig! Check out the entire playlist!
Great Battle of Britain accent Jeff. Which is your favorite film? Reach for the Sky or perhaps Naval, The Cruel Sea. I always enjoy Ice cold in Alex. Keep the videos coming in whatever format works for you.
awesome
Cool
working on these truck is a true labor of love i was in korea war era 52 55 187 air borne these were new then the reason they are still here they ae built like a tank,----LOL i think i have added another 50 yrs to mine with all the work and new parts from the ground up mine is mostly orig. iv adde turn sigs seat belts a new alterator 28 volts gen erator was toast
so much work
Love to see a 1941 Dodge Command Car being worked on. But you might try and talk your friend out of the dump bed. There is a strong market for WW2 military vehicles. Probably worth more selling it and buying a purpose built farm vehicle.
How much?
I love that Ran when parked.. or I hear people say runs good.. It last ran 10 years ago, but it runs good..LOL
interesting old power wagon! i myself just bought a 1971 ford f100 4x4 pickup rougher than a night in jail tho..
I want to see more!
I'm only 7 years late for this project, but if the pistons moved in a ways, clean the exposed bore up and put a grease zerk in place of the brake fluid line. Go at it with a grease gun and at least one of them out.
Nice to see a new project! Hope you can get parts for the brake system. Take care of you it could be asbets in this old brakeshoes/drums.
a little lat for this info try ---vpw in iowa on the net for all parts they have them
I've got a '53 Dodge. You can't kill those old flatheads.
I guess he'll put a dump on it. But, would be an amazing one to wrap the body back on and, put the canvass top back on.
I saw something once where someone connected grease zerk to a hydraulic line and used a grease gun to pump out stuck pistons.
That points distributor will trigger a ford TFI module and coil foe electronic ignition.
Man that has not had any brakes for a long time , Cylinders are frozen solid !!
mne were the same (toast ) i ordered new wheel parts from VPW- in iowa find them on the net they have all parts for these old trucks
muito bom...
Gonna be a bit of a fight on this one eh? Is that sand in the wheel cylinder or oxide crust? Anyhow, more please!!!
Now where were we? I really need to know the old way of cleaning up brake shoes, would it be caustic soda? Cheers
...do it at your friends house... Thanks for the video!
I bought one of those off a ranch-sign on the dash said "MAX HWY SPEED 37 MPH!!
It could hit 42 mph....
I always wanted one of those. Use a military trailer for the bed.
Great design alum. and steel wheel cyl. over time dont mix
Is that a weapons carrier or command car?
Weren't the transfer cases in them old trucks just in and out boxes with no low range?
WE must be related and I,m from Cape Breton Canada . you hit your fingers just like i do ! peace from Steve.
I drilled mine out!!!! Looked like lead.
Axle's R&R with NAPCOs as the 41 has low speed bearings and max speed is 45 mph or so i was told 40 years ago when
i helped change out some for a friend. Transfer case on his locked up on the front drive side banged up all kind of things and stuff inside good luck with PTO ha R&R transfer case. And good luck with the "Crummy" (Crummy wot some old timer loggers called them some where used as crew wagons)
this needs to be restored to factory specks these are rare to be f##$% up
If you want to do it, make me an offer
Nice Edgar Allen Poe reference :) haha
Check out the P15-D24 site for flathead mopar info and discussions.
Definitely two different sized pistons......
I'd just clamp off the rear brake line at the flexy :)
wheel cyliders suck to replace thats why we try to avoide replacing them
All I got to say is...."better you then me"
were plugs 1 & 2 backwards
did you make a new garage ?????
was it me or did it look like they drug the truck into the shop/barn/whatever?
Hi mate.Is this one of those trucks that has that "interesting" gearbox, 4th is where 2nd should be? I drove one of those in the Dutch army. A nice truck but a pig to drive.
Jeff, you do know that you have a twin brother from another mother don't you? His name is Otto Kilcher and you can see him on TV on Alaska: The Last Frontier. :)
Looks Like Fun - T=up
said the raven never more
this guy reminds me of a guy back here in coshocton oh
Mister SO !!!!!!))
HEY guess again folks ITS NOT A POWER WAGON!!!!! The Power Wagon was never a Military truck and it didnt start production until after the war! SO with that said shall we try again??
Hence the Title
wd 40 for pounding ???
Crusty wasn't enuf work for you? :P
I liked the look of the command cars four seater body . It looks like some one just chopped the rear off to make a cheap truck a long time ago ..heres a glimpse of the major part the Dodge played in our part of the world.

what the hell is built on the back
Yikes! Can you still get parts for this thing ??? It needs a Transplant , like a complete Chassis &running gear from a One Ton 4x4 Dodge 3500 Cummings Turbo !
Yes, you can still get parts for power wagons and dodge job related trucks. I wouldn't recommend putting a modern chassis, driveline or motor in this truck as it would diminish its authenticity.
For the love of God, there is no "G" in the name Cummins.
EETS A POWERWAGON!
