I started Contrave on October 2nd and I have lost a total of 26lbs in 24 days. I had REALLLLLLY strong nausea, and looking or smelling food literally made me gag. It repulsed me. On week 2 I had one big scare in my blood pressure. I got a busting headache to the point of thinking I was about too have a stroke. I took my bp and it was 191/106 pulse 113. I took 2 tylenol and when that kicked in I retook it and it was 178/103. Still high but it was coming down. I stuck with it and i now monitor my bp regularly. It's been stay at 126/73 ish now. I suffer with food addiction, ADHD, CPTSD and B.E.D. and it has really helped in all aspects.
I took contrave for my wedding day. I lost 30lbs in 3 months! NO exercise didn't have time for all that lol. It helped my cravings and portions! I only stopped after my wedding because I began to have hair thinning...but a friend of mine took it and didn't have any problems at all. So like any product everybody's body is different so you just have to try it, monitor yourself, and decide.

I have been using it for 5 months so far and I love it. He is very spot on about the drug helping you with emotional eating and cravings. I feel normal for once since using this medication. To have the ability to eat like a normal person feels soo good. I used to binge eat on sweets and junk food. Ive noticed that since using this medication, I crave healthier options and find myself eating only when my body needs to. Luckily for me no bad side effects.
Where can you find and it’s adorable my insurance won’t cover it

@@sandramyers4053 yes a family member amazing state employee insurance and it wasn’t covered and was $650 for 30 days. Their doc prescribed the two meds (neltrexone on bupopamine) separately and it went to $9.50 for 30 days

I’ve been successful for 7 months now on Contrave. WARNING!!! Do not drink alcohol!! I had a margarita on my birthday. The only drink I’ve had since I started the meds and I was hungover for 2 days. More than a hangover. Like full on sick. One!!! One margarita. Not happening again. Other than that, starting Contrave is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
How much did you lose? Any side effects?
@@drac464 I’m at 35 pounds and still going. Side effects were severe headaches and nausea. Dizziness. Insomnia. Constipation. I almost quit because it was so bad but I pushed through and I’m so glad I did. Now that I know how to combat these side effects, it’s much smoother progress.

@@hillarytitus7035 lots of water. Take with food. Dramamine for the nausea and headaches. That was a lifesaver.
That’s the disappointing thing about the drug is that you shouldn’t drink on it. I backed out of a social event because of it.

1.5 months in and I've gone from 19st 6lbs (272lbs) to 17st 5lbs (243lbs)! I'm 6ft 5. This treatment really does work and for me, there haven't been any major side effects. Maybe a bit of nausea and irritability occasionally. Never in a million years could I have kept up this level of dieting without the treatment. My blood pressure has also dropped to a healthy level in this time, which has been a relief! For anyone experiencing headaches, it is very important to continue to drink enough water. There is a fair amount of water in some foods and so by eating less, you need to account for this by drinking a bit more.
Just an update for anyone interested- still taking the mysimba treatment and it's still working well, I'm down to 15st 10! (220lbs). No nausea, mood is normal, no side effects at all.

I've been on it for 3 weeks now and I definitely see a difference. I no longer just snack throughout the day. Almost no cravings! And I also dont eat as much. EX: I've noticed I've gotten the same amount of food that I normally have gotten, but now I only eat about half of it. Or only get one plate rather than seconds. I do feel full so I dont feel like I'm starving myself. I have lost 11 pounds so far and I also have been more active at the gym! (Also, if for some reason I do crave food, I've gotten much healthier snacks) hope this helps! I'm excited to see my results in a few months!
Ps: no headache, vomiting, or seizures. I have had some nausea but not severe. And I have had some constipation. But with miralax it has helped.

I have tried Wellbutrin and naltrexone and it did nothing for me. I want to try Contrave and wonder if it will be any different for me. Any thoughts you could share would be great. Thank you!

I took my first dose last night and woke up this morning NOT thinking about food for the first time in a year. About 2 hours ago I picked up my normal breakfast and it is still sitting there untouched. This is just what I needed. The only issue is the cost since my insurance doesn’t cover it. I found a coupon on their website so I got a one month supply for $200 retail is almost $800 so that was a good deal. I’m looking forward to getting better and am excited about the future 😊

Hi, the side effects have passed. I had really bad headaches the first week, slight dizziness. Now I just have a little dry mouth probably because I'm not drinking enough water. I've lost 7lbs so far. I follow up with my physician in a week or 2.

Just started taking this.. im on day 3. The nausea is the worst part. Imagine you’re kinda hungry but nothing sounds appetizing. Headaches are only in the mornings. I had a little bit of dizziness. I take advil to help with headaches and by mid morning im ok. Ive lost a few pounds so far. Ive heard chugging water helps!

I've taken it before and had no issues. Lost 16 pounds the first month but that was a few years ago. After only one script of Mounjaro I can't get it anymore so I'm going to try Contrave again. I only need to lose 30-35 pounds.
I loved what Contrave did for my mind and cravings!!!! Its amazing!!!! Unfortunately I was allergic to it and had to stop taking it. So frustrating! My neck kept swelling up and it got worse with each dose, so after about a week I had to quit it. Its awesome medication though if you are not allergic to it.
I'm at the last day of my third week. Dry mouth, constipation and headaches are the side effects I'm dealing with. Headaches are constant and very hard to put up with. I do notice that I crave food less. If the headaches go away in the next week or so, I will be much happier.

I actually had to quit contrave towards the end of my fifth week. Four or five side effects, headaches being by far the worst. Pain to the point of tears. It took almost a whole week off this medicine for the pain to stop. Too bad, because it definitely was working .

May 2023 I started at 194 pounds. And now November 2023 I am at 179. When I started it yes I had the nauseous feeling. As the other comments said it is true because I realized also lots of water helps. I have not been having the urge to drink on this medication as well as smoke. When I do drink like going out with friends it’s less. It’s like it curves the liquor and the drinking but also the food. I still eat what I want but way less. It makes me full quickly. For example I had a chicken sandwich I could barely finish it. Normally I could eat a chicken sandwich, nuggets, small fries and then be full. I have been on it for 7 months to be exact. I only take one pill a day because of how much it curves my appetite but everyone is different. I do try to be more active as well with it. Not much maybe 30-50 minutes of a walk at least 2-3x a week. For me that’s all I did differently.
Got a status update? I just ordered my prescription and it arrives soon.

Well I’m a bit scared to even try it! I’ve taken Wellbutrin before for my anxiety and depression and can’t really remember why I stopped taking it, I think it was the constant headaches. I react strongly to most medications in the sense I almost ALWAYS have some side effect, usually it’s always a headache and nausea. So I’m always hesitant to take new medications but my therapist recommended this to me as I suffer from food addiction, B.E.D and lack of self control with food and embarrassing to admit but I end up thinking about food a lot. So Since she mentioned it I’ve been researching like crazy and came on CZcams to see how it’s been for some people and the side effects are scaring me away from it as again I react to most side effects listed in most medications and I struggle with headaches/migraines anyways sooo we’ll see I guess, will definitely run it by my doctor…

Contrave is absolutely amazing. I didn’t realise that I was addicted to coffee and sugary stuff. I have no desire for coffee or anything sweet. I have been on it for two weeks now, I haven’t had any weight loss yet, but the craving are all gone thank God

@@courtneyallan9802 I only took it for a month. I didn’t lose much weight on it, but it’s a wonderful medication if you’re struggling with any sort of craving. You will find after a week or so, all desire for caffeine, sweets etc will go. It won’t suppress your appetite,if you’re looking for that effect.
I have had this medication sitting in my draw for a few months but I’m too scared to take it since I have anxiety but I’d like to as it wasn’t cheap 😢
I started July 20th and I'm currently down 18 pounds :) I had slight nausea the 2nd or 3rd day I used it and slight headache then it stopped. No other side effects for me. I go to my primary doctor oct 19th and look forward to what I will be down to for that appointment

This is my experience with Contrave.
From November 2023 to June 2024, I lost a total of 100 pounds in 7 months with Contrave.
I should mention that after 3 months I had lost 30 pounds just with Contrave, but I had reached a plateau, and since I'm not very athletic, I turned to 18/6 intermittent fasting.
So it was by combining Contrave and 18/6 intermittent fasting that I managed to lose my 100 pounds. I went from 350 pounds to 250 pounds in 7 months. And for those who are wondering, well no I don't have any excess skin hanging down.
For my part I must say that the side effects were quite strong, so much so that I wondered if I should stop taking Contrave. The side effects I had are very strong hot flashes (2 to 3 times a day), nausea of moderate intensity 2 to 3 times a day (but never to the point of vomiting), actually, thanks to nausea, that’s the reason I was able to reduced my portions at meals (I went from eating two portions per meal to 1 portion and it was decreased from week to week, and now I am content with half a portion at meals. I also had confusion a few times, nothing serious but intense enough to worry me. After 3 or 4 months the side effects diminished and some completely stopped.
I can understand people who stop their treatment because they cannot cope with the side effects. But the side effects are not the same for everyone as well as their intensity, it varies from one person to another.
Bonus in addition to losing weight, I lost the taste for drinking coffee and smoking marijuana. As well as cravings for sugar and junk food. Since I don’t drink alcohol I can’t say that I lost the taste for it.
I’m on Contrave. It suppresses hunger but not completely to the point where I don’t feel anything. The first time that I took it, it took longer to curb the cravings.
I got nausea in the first week or so but it was tolerable. I also had dry mouth the first day and there’s constipation so it’s important to drink water.
I just have a week or so but the effects were immediate. I just stop to eat or drink at night, having no desire to do that. So it occurs to me that an intermittent diet is the way to go. Avoid Keto, is not a good fit with Comtrave as my doctor states. Only side effects so far is feeling a dry mouth, and certainly a change of mood, like a soft Xanax. That is curious I expected it would act like
an stimulant.
This is my 4th week taking Contrave (2 tablets morning & 2 tablets at night) and boy have I suffered today from the side effects. Insomnia, fatigue, vomiting & nausea. And it also increased my blood pressure. I did so well in the past 3 weeks. No issues other than minor headache that technically go away on it’s own most mornings. I’m contacting my Doctor to see if there is another alternative. I feel so disappointed ☹️

I was just prescribed contrave. My insurance wont cover my wegovy anymore. I do get very hungry but I’m also an emotional eater that has sweet cravings all the time.

This was a great video. I am 51 taking HRT . I am 5'2 weigh 190. I am pretty muscular and should weigh 135ish. I have struggled with weight my entire adult life. My issue is emotional eating and small binges. I have fatty liver. Would I be a good candidate?...i am also concerned about weaning off of contrave and the side effects of that...aside frome the possible weight gain. A video on that would be great

I am wondering if switching to Contrave would be different and would help me to lose weight. From everything I am reading online, they are the exact same thing. If you're willing to, you should give Contrave a try, although they are the same drugs, the formulation and release timings are not exactly the same. Some people react differently to these differences.
This is my situation as well, I have been on Wellbutrin and my MD added Naltrexone I am nervous to take both due to side effects, but honestly unsure how to take them, dosage and together, separate?? Any suggestions?
I take them both in the am and just Naltrexone in the pm. The Wellbutrin is extended release. Minimal side effects, headache and foggy brain the first week with some stomach pain for the first three days. It all resolved in about a week. Naltrexone dose started slowly then worked up. Has worked with food cravings and appetite. I feel satisfied eating less. I’ve lost 36 lbs in 4 1/2 months. Prior to that my weight loss was about 1/2 lb/ week. I’m happy so far.

Was on it for 2 weeks. it felt great! No more cravings, actually looked forward to going to sleep, would wake up feeling like I actually slept, had lots of energy. Then came the blood work; my liver enzymes were pretty high, so I had to stop taking it. Now I'm back to not really sleeping, low energy during the day, and just feel like crap, like before. Hopefully, I can start taking something else that won't cause potential liver damage.
I have an update: I started taking Cymbalta (generic for duloxetine). It is used to help treat anxiety and depression and it can also be used in people who suffer from chronic pain. It can cause dizziness, dry mouth, upset stomach, insomnia, and some other side effects. I have only been on it for a little less than a week, so I am still getting used to taking it. The first couple days I felt dizzy and sick to my stomach as soon as it started kicking in. This morning, I woke up super early and haven't been able to go back to sleep. I'm hoping that I sleep better going forward. I haven't dealt with the dizziness or feeling sick today (March 14, 2023). It may be that I'm already getting more accustomed to the medication.

I've been taking Contrave for 3wks now and I've lost 6 lbs so far. It took away my desire to snack on unhealthy foods. I actually want to eat a lot of fresh fruit now whereas before I only ate bananas and occasionally ate other fruits. I've always been one to stay up and watch late night tv, but now I'm getting more rest because I don't want to stay up late anymore. But on the down side, I am experiencing the ringing in my ears 😔. The pharmacist did make me aware that it was a side affect. It's not painful it comes and goes, but it is annoying. Hopefully I can continue taking it until my follow-up with my Doctor in November.
I started this med 5 days now and I hope it work for me because it's expensive compared to other weight loss meds.

They don't have any known interactions, but always ask your doctor before combining weight loss drugs.
Can you use contrave with methotrexate?

I was prescribed this pill contrave i took it for 5 days and i got the side effects...i have shortness of breath...low pressure 99/65 to 100/129...i had nausea low pulse that got down to 55..i still find myself breathing different than i was i was off work for 4 days i just havent felt right since i oray ill get better...now im not bashing this pill but it wasnt for me

They can interact with each other and drop your blood pressure too much. You need to ask your doctor before taking them.

My first pill taking contrave and I ended up in the hospital almost died I take other meds and one which was an opiate had the worst reaction within 15 minutes I knew I was in trouble I called my daughter to come over she was there within 3 minutes by that time I was already having somewhat seizures in my body she called 911 and they came and took me away even thou I had not taken any opiates that day it still sent my body in horrible shock. I waited a week and tried again this time with nothing in my system and no reaction at all. No headaches nothing its like Im taking a placebo pill but I no longer have cravings its been a week and I noticed I am no longer dreaming of food. I feel that if I lose the weight than I will no longer have to take pain medication since its mostly being overweight that's causing the pain.
Who in the hell prescribed you Contrave when you take opioids??? Or did the prescriber not know?
If you get headaches on contrave you’ll need to take a choline source.
I am so interested this pill. I've lost weight in the past & kept it off until I had my 4th and last child 2yrs. I'm seeing everything but the cost. Is this an expensive pill? I know it'll vary state to state.
I don't know if you found help because it was so so hard for me to figure out something, but once I got the prescription for it from my doctor, I found out it was going to be about 1000 dollars, and girl I can't afford that, I got chitlens, but dangit I also wanted to lose weight. Anywho long story short, if you get a script, look up ridgeway pharmacy and have them contact your doctor to transfer your script. It goes from 1000+ to 120 ish, like hellllasss cheaper. And it's the same shit 🤷🏽♀️

No, you can't take it while on Adderall. You're risks of seizures and or severe psychiatric issues happening would highly increase, it is not safe!
I take Vyvance for ADHD. My doctor just prescribed Contrave, knows about Vyvance, and said it's safe to take together.

This sounds like Phentermine's side effects and etc.🤔...there for I can't take it. My emotions where all over the place including having a nervous breakdown, on top of being stressed.
I'm on Day 3 and about to stop. The symptoms are just like Phentermine. I'll just go back to IF(intermittent fasting) and low carb to lose the weight. Contrave is too much.

Wellbutrin alone can help with weight loss. Unfortunately, side effects can include freaking the eff out

It didn't cause that for me way back when I took it as an anti-depressant years ago, but a friend of mine's mom took it to quit smoking and she started to become manic and aggressive. We finally convinced her to go off it, because sometimes the people on it don't think they're acting differently, so it wise to let family members and friends keep an eye out for behavior changes.

@SolemnVow91 I've been on it for 2 weeks. This is actually my second week. I just up the dose and I'm gaining a little bit of weight on it. I'm not feeling it suppressing my appetite at all. How long does it take to Kick in? Where you really can eat half the portions you used to ? But right now. I still have the urge to binge. This is my second week

Nobody talks about weight gain pills.. It's also as hard on the other side.Some of us can't seem to eat 4 or more spoonfuls of food because of lack of appetite.😢

For me is one of the worst medication to loose weight, I did try like 1-2 years ago and side effects very bad and I just started with Phentermine and is way better then the other one, is been 5 days and 4 lb less 🙏🏼🙏🏼
