    Before you step into any dealership, do yourself a favor and take out an RV consumer group membership and pour through their ratings, You will be stunned. I am looking for my next RV and my initial “pour through” of different manufacurers was shocking. That investment really opened my eyes. Salesman are the enemy and you need to go in fully prepared to walk in with both eyes WIDE OPEN. Understand human behavior - you will walk into these rigs starry eyed (especially if you are a first time buyer) and the waltz will begin as the sales people are skilled tacticians / negotiators. What looks mesmerizing at the surface is quite different from the actual construction where all the componentry hangs. Construction quality in many of these rigs is in some cases just short of non-existant.

    Thanks for your video. We’ve had our 2021 Coachmen Beyond 22C Li3 AWD for 6 months now and agree with you that the quality of this vehicle is outstanding. I will add another lesson to your list for new buyers - consider hiring a good certified RV inspector BEFORE taking delivery of your new RV. It is expensive, but worth every penny. When the dealer is given a long list of everything to prep for the inspection - trust me they do it if they want to get paid and close the deal. MJ

    The advice about vehicle height and bridges is excellent! I think some of the Garmin or other brands of mapping devices have versions specific for commercial vehicles thus, contains bridges' height info.

    I absolutely detested the gps that was installed in my ram 3500 from the factory; it’s a car gps and can’t be upgraded to a truck gps. I highly recommend any rv’er upgrade to a garmin truck gps; you can enter your height weight length and it will attempt to route you around low bridges or routes where your rig would exceed the weight limits. They are in more places than you think!

    Very nice and informative RV video tips! I'm planning to get either the Nova 20D Pop Top or the Beyond 22D AWD this summer for sure. Where can I get the same storage box at the end of this video? Why didn’t you get the li3? Is your generator the quiet one? Can the generator run all night in Florida heat for ac?

    • @HowToHaveFunOutdoors
      @HowToHaveFunOutdoors  Před 3 lety +5

      Great question! We love the Li3. However we live in New Hampshire and plan to do a lot of winter camping (check out our winter camping video :))! Lithium is excellent technology. But when you get below 20F it becomes not ideal. We have a lot of lithium tools, but we have to keep batteries inside. With the beyond we don’t have that option, so we played it save and decided not to add. If we lived in south, for sure we would have went with the Li3. However, we do have the new quiet generator and honestly we love it. We also have the the extra insulation for cold and heat. The generator at night turns on about 3 times to keep cool at 88-92 when we were in Florida. The AGS worked perfectly. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and please subscribe! We will have lots of cool videos. In the fall, we will be doing one on a battery-powered snow blower!

  • @barney61ful
    @barney61ful Před 3 lety +5

    Nice tips, I would add re. fuses if you have a wonderful FanTastic ceiling fan you will have to order a special size fuse. Also traveling with pets is a special thing we LOVE our dog. He likes our Class B! He travels ONLY in a soft sided secured (tied down) crate. He goes in thru zippered doors while we walk around, BUT sleeps in our bed. While at camp outside he has a fold out flat cot to stay off the ground or on a mat.
    I would recommend a power surge electrical management system to pre-check and shut down the electrical connection if it gets a reading outside the safe parameters. Frying your units wiring due to various reasons can be an $$$$ repair issue. Some campgrounds expand and have insufficient elec. systems. Everyone knows how maxed out RV campsites are, so have reservations or another plan.
    Have fun!!!

      Jerry, Coachmen makes a great RV. Most of the issues are dealer related (a single dealer). It is clear the dealer did not have the process and procedures needed to make sure the customer experience was good. We have great dealers in the USA and poor dealers. But you cant blame Coachmen. We are very happy with their quality. We were not happy with the dealer.
