The JDM "Type-S" is 250 ps, compared to the 228 hp that the rest of the world got. My Japanese kind of sucks but it seems that it is due to extra ports on the engine (6 in total).
PacificCoastAuto the 6 port version on the 6 speed manual is known to have only 235 bhp. Same with the Type S. The Auto and 5 speed manual gets the 4 port with only 191 to 215bhp.
In the second gen RX8. The Renesis II motor iteration that launched with the 2009 model year included a third oil injection port in each rotor housing to feed oil to the middle of the rotor facing, making this their first all new EMOP (Electric Metering Oil Pump) with a total of 6 lubrication injectors, plus an all new engine oil pump.

tricky one because it looks like a brilliant example of an rx8 but rx8s simply dont go for alot in most countries these days... hopefully someone realizes how nice this is and buys it.
TuRD_YARIS most RX8 i heard horror stories with the engine. Because the owner dont know how to maintain the engine. It drinks fuel and oil. Unless its serviced regularly. You just bought 2 times the price of the car because you need to rebuild the engine.
The cracking on the dashboard is a common problem, the material is thin because there's an airbag underneath and it perishes in strong sunlight. Not a problem for my RX8 in the UK because we don't experience direct sunlight :)
Love the veilside kit, the car is a pretty good deal
Not a bad price considering the overall condition and mileage of the car. On the other hand, it's going to cost a fair bit to restore and rectify the body issues as well as a new dash. Not to mention having to change the rotor seals for optimum performance and reliability. That bodykit is going to need more than just a quick going over with some Bondo. Personally, I think this would be an excellent project for a track day car. Lose the bodykit and interior, build a roll-cage, rebuild and tune the motor. Great fun for less money than trying to "Concours" the RX-8.

The engine is the major issue here. Unless it serviced regularly and the owner tops up the oil regularly. You gonna expect a full rebuild of the engine to replace the apex seals.

In the UK for that money, you can get a 2009 53,000 miles, manual, high spec, clean example with full-service history R3. Shame it's not a good deal

I dont know how it works on imports. But I think you can get that airbag replaced due to a recall. Both my airbags were recalled on my 04

where the leave was actually isnt cooling fir the brakes but it is functional...it goes to the oil coolers on both sides if u have the 6speed. the auto matics had just 1 oil cooler though...thenmore u know haha

4,000 flat most of the parts are after market and the interior isn’t mint anymore when you mentioned that cigarette burn on the passenger side and there’s no radio, and giant scrape on the rim with that extra 749 I could’ve saved I could get that rim fixed and the radio installed right

I will say its ok but the engine is what makes or break the deal.
If the previous owner abused the engine or did top up the oil frequently. The Apex seals will wear out quite fast and you will be vaping non stop.

Have you heard about mixing gasoline with 2-stroke oil on these Renesis engines? I remember reading it somewhere that people with these engines had done that. Obvious is that it helps with highly tuned rotaries but how about stock Renesis, i can't remember did they even block some of the original oil-injection ports.

Useless on stock engines, unless you plan on spending your entire gas tank at the track. And event then, a 1 for 200 ratio is plenty for those.
traxnada some rotary experts like Rotor magazine suggests doing premix to all the rotary engine. Be it stock or tuned or turboed. It just protects the seal from premature wear.
Well, after asking the question to both RE-Amemiya and RE-Sugiyama (I live in Japan...), they both answered me it was absolutely useless on any modern rotary engine for normal use... Even at the track, it's not really needed, as long as the car is somewhat stock. Oil squirters do the job very well... Only pre-1983 non-fuel injected rotaries require the owner to premix. They both mentioned that if I really wanted to, for some sort of piece of mind or whatever, I could do 1/200 of oil premix before heavy intensive use but that was it... Those two being the best rotary tuners on the planet, I'd tend to believe them :)
Lack of revving and redlining is a much bigger problem for most rotary owners who don't care about driving them in a more sporty manner...

From what I can gather, these cars are significantly cheaper than this in pretty much every country. Most of New Zealand's cars are Japanese imports - ie they are cheap enough to buy in Japan and export to New Zealand and still be profitable in our market. Therefore, logic dictates that PCA substantially overpaid for this vehicle.

Alan Serrano they rnt unreliable other than alex failure...but if u take care of it ur engine can last pretty long...my dads stock rx8 lasted 2 years with no problem until low compression happened...still in the process of replaceing the engine... but as far as day to day its fine
