    I really enjoyed the format and content as I’m in the market for an additional bike. Great job guys! Both of these bikes are excellent and that is what makes buying a sport bike these days so much fun.......it’s almost impossible to buy a bad one.

    Those lap times are really impressive; they beat the Motor Trend times for the SRT Viper and the Corvette ZR1 which are the two fastest production cars to lap that circuit.

      Out of curiosity though are the lap times here and on motortrend rolling starts or off the line. That could make it unfair to compare.

    I had the pleasure of watching E. Bostrom blew oil in front of me on his Kawasaki at a Buttonwillow track day. lol
    He got off the track and started waving everyone down to watch out for the slick. Cool dude. This was 1997 iirc.

    I think the mirrors on the BMW must have slowed it down by 200th of second. :) I wonder how the suspension was set up for the BMW, but laps under 1.34 seconds seems pretty good for both bikes. Should test more bikes around Laguna to use it as a Benchmark like Motortrend hotlaps.

    I love the look and racy feels of the Ducati . But I love the price and the useability of the HP4. Both are dream bikes since most of us can't even come close to use them at the limit.

    • @ShadowLancer128
      @ShadowLancer128 Před 9 lety

      Well.
      yes and no.
      Granted we're just average guys, but practice does make perfect. All it really takes is for one of us guys to lose is temper, dump his wallet, and grind out about a month or so of track days, and all of a sudden you're ready to race at the world superbike series. the technology given off of these new stock platforms puts beginners into the intermediate class much, much faster than the old bikes used to. just saying dude. and yes, not everybody is going to do that, or even reach those levels after practice, but realistically- if someone had talent, determination, fitness and a heavy temper coming off their starting days... it's hard to say what they could and couldn't accomplish.
      as for the bikes, yeah you're right. the panigale is much more of an obnoxious racer, whereas the bmw is more for multi-purpose use.

    That Ducati has a 200 rear tire also I believe. Which from what I read on a 200/50 is that the cornering slows down bit. Maybe you can hit the apex better with a 180/55-190/55.

    • @marmoot
      @marmoot Před 9 lety

      200/55. And due to the bike's design, it flicks from side to side very quickly. Especially with the R or S model, where Ducati put lightweight wheels. It is as quick if not quicker than even a CBR600RR.

    • @ShadowLancer128
      @ShadowLancer128 Před 9 lety

      marmoot Has it right. In addition, the 2015 Panigale R shaved, what was it, 6 Kilograms (13.22 pounds) of weight off of the old 2014 R model, and has 10 more horsepower @ 11,500rpm, due to the superleggera derived engine the new R model has.

I'm very glad you copied this link - it's hands down the best looking bike that's ever been available! Would love to track one, one day!

    Awesome video, but why there is in that Bmw HP4 that Akrapovic exhaust and Ducati has that stock Ducati Panigale exhaust, it should be in Panigale R model that termignoni exhaust, then it would be perfect Panigale R...

    DUCATI RULES

  • @luv2mx
    @luv2mx Před 9 lety +1

    I've noticed the Duc edge out the HP4 on most reviews. Being significantly down on horsepower that seems impressive. I can't understand why most of the reviews praise the BMW and are critical of the Duc.

    • @marmoot
      @marmoot Před 9 lety +4

      Because the Duc takes quite a bit of getting used to before it rewards the rider. Ride it incorrectly and it would feel like crap. The BMW is a better package to get into and easier to get used to, very similar to Japanese litrebikes.
      Most reviews only give the rider one or a few days to get used to. Pretty hard to do that with Ducatis, although the 1199 is already a lot easier to learn than the previous ones.

    • @rjeez95
      @rjeez95 Před 9 lety +1

      Simple. The ducati panigale r is £27,000, £10,000 more then a bike its slower then in a straight line, less comfortable then, less usable, and can only beat by 0.2 with a champion on a track. I personally love the 899 but personally the 1199 makes no sense for the price especially the r version at £27k :/, imagine bmw made a bike at 27k, the ducati would look like a joke lol

    • @rjeez95
      @rjeez95 Před 9 lety +7

      Thomas J. Palazzolo I apologize for the mistake, I FULLY know the difference, unlike you who comes onto a motorbike video taking time to write a comment about the english language, I don't care as long as the message is put across, If i need to impress someone with formal speech and documents then maybe i'll spend time bothering.
      Judging knowledge on the way i spell in a world where there are many smart and inspirational people (www.dyslexia.com/famous.htm) who may even be dyslexic (not that I am) makes you look "unknowledgeable", and unlike my mistake which has to do with bothering to spell correctly, you're failed judgment of intellect is to do with you're faulty logic, since when was there a correlation between knowledge of motorbikes, and ability to spell. Your passion for such a useless subject is mesmorizing. Grow up.

    • @t.j.palazzolo8255
      @t.j.palazzolo8255 Před 9 lety +1

      ***** NO, very obviously you don't the difference, otherwise you wouldn't have done it…and I guess if you're o.k. being less than you could be that's something you must deal with…the saying "words mean something" is true. What you say and how you say it whether in person or in print tells a lot about a person….I didn't say you weren't smart, and making excuses for your laziness in use of language is a weak argument at best. You obviously have some knowledge of motorcycles, but that isn't what's at issue…I am grown by the way…which is why I pointed out your improper use of the english language…
