I have worked with homeowners sometimes for more than two years. Would they have been better off if they went solar sooner? Absolutely! But they went solar with me when they were completely comfortable with the decision. That’s very important to me.

What is often forgotten completely is the power of a good, knowledgeable contractor and solar designer to build a strong foundation for the installing company. It's pretty clear there's a massive difference between someone like Dave and your average solar seller, who just wants to get in and make the sale. If my parents told me they were interested in solar, I'd refer Dave without hesitation.

One of the reasons why I did this interview was to try to raise the bar in the solar world. Most solar companies have adopted a cookie-cutter approach to solar. This makes them a lot of money, but it is not good for the homeowner . Virtually every bad solar install that people see can be traced back to this poor customer service model. Homeowners deserve much better than that especially on such an important long-term investment.
