There are so many little parts of this movie that feels like the animators just showing off. It's beautiful haha.
I can't even describe how much I love the character acting animations in Ghibli movies. They are so intricate and well-thought
Same here!!!!
I mean holy mahoney, even at 1:05 you can see the weight being put on her foot after it feels around on the step before the other leg even comes fully into frame. that's just absolutely mind bending to me : P
Your animation is genius
That moment when you remember how much you love animation. Loved the breakdown!
It's always great to see you post Howard! You're an animation LEGEND!
My cousin and I used to watch Spirited Away all the time as kids. I remember being terrified and feeling uncomfortable with the movie's premise. Perhaps because i was traumatized or never really paid attention, i only remember a handful of moments.
I've been meaning to re-watch it for years but still to this day. I haven't been able to get my hands on the movie.
It's on Netflix
Rather than other studio Ghibli,I just like Ponyo, the transition was just wow !
Spirited Away is such an amazing movie...... best movie ever :)
Thanks for the breakdown...... it's nice to see your examination of those shots :)
Holy crap!!! I've seen this countless times and I never even noticed the nails!!!
Miyazaki proves that, in the right hands, “limited animation” can convey the illusion of life.
Finally someone that understands animation! I bet you get irritated with those "anime as 60fps" vids too, yes?
Finally! I missed these breakdowns or reactions.
Id LOVE to see more analysises like this!!
Very intersting, thank you ! Such a great animation.
Thanks for this man, insanely informative wow👍👌
Great analysis of this scene! Keep'em coming!
Spirited Away and Joe Hisaishi - One Summer's Day, ...Masterpiece
Amazing! Thank you so much for the analysis!
I wonder if you could take a look at the animation in Chainsaw Man? That anime has a ton of techniques I've never seen before
Mervellous. Thanks !
Dang bro studio ghibli is amazing
Maybe I'll watch spirited away
Love you Howard. :D
Hi, you did a wonderful job breaking down the animation process... and giving credit to the animator. Always glad to see those kind of analysis from an animator ;-) Nevertheless I wanted to point out that a lot of the little details are already in Hayao Miyazaki's storyboards :-)
yes, I have the Spirited Away artbook and I checked to see if the original storyboards of this scene are in there. They are not. So we can only guess at how much was decided by Miyazaki and how much input Kurata had. Whilst Hayao Miyazaki is the definition of auteur, animation productions of this size are a team effort by necessity.
@@HowardWimshurst Hi, yeah, you have to check the storyboards themselves ;-) all ghibli movies have a printed edition of the storyboards in japanese that you can easily find in the japanese Amazon website. And the blurays happened to came with the bonus track (or disc, it depends) of the animatic pencilled movie (basically the storyboards)... you can check that if you have a bluray version ;-) But I agree that the animator add certainly a bunch to the storyboards. And indeed there is one shot later in the movie when Chihiro put back her shoes and tap the ground... this little detail is not in the boards... we can guess it's from the animator ;-) If you are interested in storyboards, those from Akira, pencilled by Otomo, are also back in print (2 volumes).
When you love doing what you do ..... Results are insane
I appreciated this breakdown. Hope you are doing well man.
Another great video!
Glad you like them!
Watched this movie with my girlfriend before we broke up, highly recommended amazing movie honestly. 👍 ponyo is also a really great ghibli movie one from my childhood that brings back nostalgia.
First ! Love you howard ❤️
That's what an animator sees in a animated movie 🍿 ,,,
Beautuiful Video!
Glad you liked it!
@@HowardWimshurst You explained beautifully man😊
U can change your name to something easy to recall (me like always forget your name and impossible to remember)
Get ready for your next multimillion views, everyone liked this topic
plenty more to come :)
Yo Howard are you going reboot your saguga studies videos and provide more uploads for it would really like to see more new videos for it 😊
that's the plan, although i will be covering more obscure animations. less mainstream anime.
@@HowardWimshurst awesome sauce can you also do western cartoons as well just to give that classic Disney flair?
