Joseph's Departure
As the snow falls upon my windows
gathering in scattered frost like a shattered mirror
there I see your face reflected in the wings of angels,
and I wonder how you will celebrate this Christmas.
On the road the horses gallop, jangling the sleigh bells
then they stop the night unfolds a Magi at your doorstep,
with my bare hands I built you a bed and a table,
and I wonder who you will be with this Christmas.
When your children hear the song of Joseph's departure
let them gather straw and bring it to the Manger
let your children kneel around the lonely infant Jesus,
and I wonder what you'll sing to celebrate this Christmas.
