  • A, for me, rare happy love song about a girl who, like me, loved the paintings of Sargent and Paul Klee.
    New York Girl
After leaving the gallery in the search of the perfect masterpiece
how could I know it would occur -
never faced what I saw in the face of a New York girl.
There were paintings in the gallery
that I wanted to buy cos' they suited me,
now I can't remember what they were -
wish I could paint what I saw in the face of a New York girl.
    Chorus
A lucky stroke, a magic wand, and Sargent painted this way,
a room full of dreams in the house of Klee.
A road can only be taken so far
some will land on their feet some will reach the stars,
there is a limit to every form -
and my visions can soar in the form of a New York girl.
First we see the sky in the paint
then we see the painting in the sky,
there's no way to deny the world -
I could rise to the skies and the eyes of a New York girl.
    Chorus
in the yard at my house there are birds
I have painted the picture in black and blues,
    I didn't mean to have disturbed -
but then I was rubbed by the love of a New York girl.
