- ➡️Thorough knowledge of surgical anatomy of mandible is required for efficient management of Mandibular fractures.Treatment outcomes also depend on the action of various muscles in mandible
➡️Closed reduction techniques of mandibular fractures have a long history of success. It's technical ease, economic feasibility and satisfactory outcomes make closed reduction a convenient treatment modality even today.
➡️Mandibular fractures are most effeciently managed with open reduction and internal fixation. Both extraoral and intraoral approaches are used to access the fracture site.
➡️Various fixation concepts are applied to perform open reduction and Internal Fixation of mandibular fractures. Bone plates are considered the most common , convenient and technically easiest method of fracture fixation
➡️Condyle fracture is the commonest one among mandibular fractures with the anatomy of the condyle and the biomechanics of mandible being responsible for it.
➡️Management of mandibular condyle fracture is one of the most controversial topics in maxillofacial trauma. Conservative and surgical management are two schools of approaches in the treatment of condylar fractures.
