  • @MariaMagdyGirgisHannaMankariou

    Mandibular fractures, condylar neck fractures are most common because the bone dimension in this area is skinniest and the condyle gets banged up against the glenoid fossa and is trapped there and has nowhere else to go commonly a fall or blow to one side of the mandible causes a fracture in the angle region of the ipsilateral side and a fracture of the condylar region of the contralateral side.

    Hello Dr.Teeth
    Could you please tell me if it’s normal that my bones hasn’t joined together after open fixation with titanium plates on my symphysis in the meddle? It was fracture with one fragment and was fixed with 3 plates. On x ray it showing it’s still not joined, just a bit after 6 weeks it’s fill up a bit on the back of the bone but i could still see the cracks and I’ve been advised to have a soft food for another 6 weeks… I’m in the pieces and falling apart inside as I’ve been attacked just in front of my house and literally its a disaster for me a specially when it’s not healed after 6 weeks:( please reply what is possible outcome of this case. I’m 37 years old with no health issue.
    Regards,
    Tom

    Namasthey madam..Recently I met with an accident and my symphasis got Fractured and left condyle head fracture vertically and displaced there is no surgery done near my ear I can see the bone little bit up while compared with another jaw...can you please tell me why surgery was not done to it I was so scared of it and now my mouth was shut with wire from past 12 days plz reply madam

    • @kouderdakhlallah1713
      @kouderdakhlallah1713 Před 2 lety +1

      No one can accurately answer that except for your doctor who saw you. But usually symphysis fractures are easily repaired with open reduction internal fixation (that means they use metal plates to stick it back together).
      But the condyle is best repaired with closed reduction. That means they move the two pieces of bone so they are stuck together to allow them to heal naturally.
      The reason they do this is because a surgery on or near the joint of your jaw can lead to many bad side effects so it is usually avoided when it can be
      The wires are probably removed from your mouth by now, so I hope you are doing well!
