    The struggle is real with these pups! Brought my 9 week old doxie home last week and she is testing my patience with her biting for sure but this video is so helpful and she is slowly but surely learning :)

    I’m new here, and my new Dapple dachshund puppy will arrive in a few weeks. I had 2 dachshunds previously, and we had them for over 16 years, however, they were not puppies when we adopted them. I have learned so much from your videos about training and caring for our new puppy. Thanks so much! Moving on to the next video!

    Hi Will, thanks for all your helpful videos, I have found them invaluable in training my little miniature Dacshund who is now 15 weeks old. With the teething, one of her ears has turned sticky-outy and kind of folded in half. Someone told me it’s called turning ‘rose’, and requires taping. Can you advise on this and is it reversible ?

    Could you please recommend a backpack carrier for my miniature. I'm very conscious of wanting him to be comfortable, and his back not stressed, when carrying him on longer walks. Thank you.. I

    Thank you for this. I’m wondering if the “no” or whatever I use doesn’t effect him, is it ok then to put him down or in his crate? He’s 8 weeks old, mom dog died during birth, he likes to nurse my palm and forearm, and yes I have let him a few times but immediately goes into biting, jumping towards my face, feet, arms. He’s not doing out of anger, he gets super excited and seems to have no control. I always calmly say “no bite”, but it will continue so the point it hurts me and I put him back on the floor. He’s only 3.13 pounds but boy those teeth are sharp. Then I look at his little face and feel guilty I don’t know what to do. I will do your suggestions but how do I disengage without making him sad and confused.

    When I do the ahh noise or no! My puppy starts barking at me and running. I take things away but she won’t let go; then when I replace the item she bites me. She’s 11 weeks old. I work with her daily. She already knows several commands but this one, she totally ignores my commands.

      You can try locking her in a small closet or if she doesn’t like a particular room or thing, put her in that place for like 3-5 minutes so she associates biting you with going somewhere she doesn’t like. Then have her go to sit and stay before giving her a toy that she CAN bite and immediately as she is actually biting it give her a treat/praise.
      No offense but it sounds like the result of inconsistent training. If she is allowed to get away with the behavior some of the time or she feels like she can get you to give up she will try to get away with it every time. Doxies are stubborn like that.

      @@JoannaKimberright. Mine absolutely hates the backyard. I will put her in the backyard when she is naughty. As soon as she stops crying, I start a 10 minute timer. If she cries, I start the timer over again. You must be more stubborn than your dachshund. She is now 3 and hasn’t had a time out in over a year

    Solid advice, but not dachshund specific. This works with all dogs. Maybe suggest toys/chews appropriate for dachshunds that you can redirect to. That would make it breed specific.

    Please help ! I'm so desperate. Our dachshund puppy is 4 months old and she doesn't just bite- she latches hard digs in her pin needle teeth and refuses to let go. She latches so hard that my hands bleed every time I tried to pull it out of her mouth. We tried being sweet, redirecting attention but the positive reinforcement method doesn't seem to do anything. She's very dominant and when I try to get her away from me she just becomes aggressive and it hypes her up even more. Do you have any advice for this dominant and aggressive puppy behavior?

    • @lijhsz
      @lijhsz Před 3 lety

      Try to do training commands (example : sit, lay down) If that doesent work then try to get a Long toy and just give it to her/him to Cheew on that. If that doesent work either then i recommend signing her/him up to a dog school. If that doesent work EITHER then i recommend training her not to do it (example : when your dog does it you tell the dog to stop. If the dog stops you give the dog a treat. Keep repeating till the dog listens every single time)

    • @lijhsz
      @lijhsz Před 3 lety +1

      I Can also recommend trying to hold the dog by their neck skin (like their mom did) and you don't have to pull the dog up, you just have to drag it and tell the dog:STOP.
