I bought this amp in 1985(?) and I still have it. The volume control does now work properly. I tried getting it cleaned/repair and it improved a little. I would love to get it fully working again. It was a great amp. Great video.
My parents bought this when it came out, now I use it for my speakers on my pc. (Not sure if that will trigger people) I still got to find the cd player that came with it. I couldn't believe the age of it when I looked up the model number.
I've bought in loads of Sony hifi like this for years. In fact my Sony LBT-V701 hifi which has the amp and CD player (model CDP-M77 and TA-V701) has a very similar design to Technics equipment. Look up the model of the amp and you might see the similarities! But now, I definitely want to buy in some Technics gear, possibly to replace my E series Sony complete hifi. Technics has so much personality and quality, and whenever I look on eBay, there always seems to be numerous parts or not working listings for amps especially, most of which that for the ext in and out do not have the bridge thing that bypasses the optional external EQ lol... which most people do not understand and either throw away or sell on as for parts or not working as a Technics amp without those to the naked eye has a terminal problem lol.
I’ve got that exact amp in my garage pounding an old set of 12 inch vega’s…. I’ve had it go just over 30 years…. They sure don’t make them Like they use too

@@UncleJay101 Same problem here. My parents bought it in 1990 here in Italy, I still using it. It works good after cleaning the joints and knobs.
I had one of these Amps, back in 1986, it was a great machine that lasted at least 12 years, not bad for under 400 bucks.

My first amp! A few years later I replaced it by Sony TA-F606ES. Technics design was great, but the sound of this amp was not so good.

+chicowasp hi there, no I don't think you can, banana plugs are only handy if you are moving in and out of tight spaces otherwise I never bother

Yes it is plastic but has a superb finish to the point where you think it's painted metal.
