In case you haven’t met me, my name is Natali Edmonds and I am a board certified geropsychologist. That means that I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with older adults. One day, while hiking a trail, I came up with the idea for Careblazers and I decided to see if posting videos online could provide help to the many other Careblazers in the world who don’t get to have help come directly to them in their homes. I hope that this work helps you in some way on your caregiving journey.

Hi Natalie> I which I would have found you a couple of years ago but Im so grateful I found you now. Im tied in with the Alzheimer's association here in the Miami Valley in Ohio so I will spread the word. Im a career drummer and musican who has played in a lot of bands and I hearld from Phoenix so this is a real double Christmas gift for me thank you. I recently had some work and some time off working in Israel and England (about a month) and my lovely wife Donna stayed in California with her son for Thanksgiving. Well I drove back to and from Ohio to save money and the trip was a real test. I won a internet radio station called Gonzo radio so I can work at home and take care of Donna. So I preprogrammed some music on the station for our trip. Music really helps Donna and we love to sing together (but hey there is a reason Im a drummer). Donna kept telling me that I had better get her home soon (yea 2300 miles) because her husband the radio dj would be mad at her. I guaranteed her that he would not be.Even though Donna is in late mid term Alzheimers and Ive did almost everything wrong using humor really helps your spouse and it keeps you sane as well. Not that I dont take the condition serious but hey you have to learn to dance in the rain sometimes. Blessings and thank you.-Tim aka Dr Gonzo

Absolutely! Humor goes a long way in many situations. It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job caring for your wife. I'm happy that you are able to work from home. I'm sure that is a relief! Wishing you and your family all the best on your caregiving journey! Happy Holidays, Dr. Gonzo!

Oh the mindset is hard. My AD person was horrid three years in a row, I think this year I am just too tired to care.

Take it easy and do whatever feels right for you, even if that means doing much less than past years. It is okay.
