    I would love to see a video on how you could make the asphalt cracked. Great video just ordered some of that material and excited to use it.

      Hi there, if you want to make it look cracked, use some knife or needle to make cracks in styrofoam. Then apply this product on top. Last thing, add a little water on brush and run it over cracks so Asphalt mass gets inside the cracks. Its really simple thing to do.

    Can you sand it after it cures to smooth it out? I thought this was more of a pour and smooth out application. It was really helpful to see that you can use a paint brush to apply it and that you don't need that much. Useful video, thanks!

    I cut a piece of styrene the width of the street instead of using a spatula. Also before it is totally dry you can make scratch lines using a dental tool. I've been using it for the last 3 months. You should also try the AK concrete, terrain and corrosion. Their products are very realistic but very expensive.

      We do have it to try. And for the expense, it is more than some others or DIY methods, but then again we know it works, and don't have to worry about trying out multiple products to see what we like.
      With AK stuff, we pay a little more to do it once and have it done right the first time. The results are very consistent.

    Can it be watered down to apply like regular paint with brush so that is not as thick? My kit is a city diorama with sign pre-painted on the road. Figuring out how to mask these line so that they are not covered by the asphalt.

    Simply mix dark grey paint with sand and you won’t need to buy Ak products

    Does it have to be a plastic spatula or can you use a metal spackling one?
    Are you using a paint brush to be conservative or can you apply it from the jar with the spatula?

    • @WileysScaleModeling
      @WileysScaleModeling  Před 5 lety

      A metal one should do the trick!
      And I just used a paint brush to conserve, totally could apply it with spatula from the jar.

    It's weird. I bought the same and it's now completely black instead of dark grey. Guess they switched their formula or something

    • @WileysScaleModeling
      @WileysScaleModeling  Před 4 lety

      That's weird! Yeah maybe they changed up their mix a bit. I'd hate to have started some roads with it and have a different color batch halfway through a project

      @@WileysScaleModeling Yeah, tried it a second time today and no change. I also realized that now it's pretty much super smooth and self leveling, while yours looks a little rough/textured like asphalt is supposed to be. You need to catch it at the right amount of drying to rough it up a little with a sponge or something.
      Gonna get Concrete in the future and hope it's closer to what I want.

      I just bought a tub and same here, alot darker and smoother, a bit disappointing. Though the concrete texture is great

      Should be able ro find it or order it from most hobby Shops that carry Military Models. If your Local Shop doesnt have it. Try Squadron Mail Order out of Texas.
